Re: Ektachrome Is Back!

The price is confirmed as $39.99 per cartridge on Kodak's US product list. That's an introductory price, whatever that means. If pricing of the other film types is followed it means 16mm is likely to be $60 per 100' roll. I suppose this gives me the opportunity for another rant about pricing. :( Kod...

Your Experiences Using Expired B/W Film

Looking for advise on using long expired Kodak black and white film. If the prior history is not known is it worth bothering with. We're talking film between 20- 40 years old. I have read up as much as possible on the subject but there's not really that much information out there. I guy by the name ...

Re: The return of Ektachrome - CES 2017

I'll post this winge here so nobody sees it. :| Regarding the predicted cost of the new Ektachrome Super 8 cartridge is to be around $US40, I say it's totally unfair to the Super 8 user. Why is Super 8 so expensive compared to 16mm? There is 4 times as much film in a 100' roll of 16mm than a 50' car...

Re: Ektachrome Is Back!

Regards to the price difference between 100' and 400', I would say Kodak wants to encourage people with the semi pro cameras to keep shooting film. With the prediction of the Super 8 cartridge being US$40, maybe US$60 for a roll of 16mm would be likely? If that was the case, 16mm is by far the bette...

Re: Where can you buy positive 16mm color film?

I took it Doug meant that 16mm could get away with a less good film quality as it has more negative area. Super 8 film needs to be very fine grained and sharp to be acceptable which would be harder to make. I will say that I feel Super 8 has become too expensive compared to 16mm. Although I won't st...

Re: The Future of Film

I was enjoying seeing the counter displaying 22222 topics on this site. Such an achievement.
Now 22223.
Still, thanks for posting something new.
I do wonder why there is little action on this site of late? Maybe every topic has been covered or maybe there are no longer as many small film users?

Re: Canon 814 or 1014 spare part wanted

VideoFred,
I have looked into having the gear 3D printed but it is too fine detailed for most peoples printers. Then there is the cost of file creation which is too high for a one off. Therefore I will continue to look for a broken 814 camera. Thanks for the suggestion though.

Re: The return of Ektachrome - CES 2017

Hmm... 7294 was a colour negative film from 1983 till 1986. I suppose Kodak couldn't come up with some new numbers? This could be confusing for future film stock searches or references. Anyway, it's great news Ektachrome is back! :ymparty: It seems that Kodak is going to a lot of effort to make sure...

Re: The return of Ektachrome - CES 2017

ncollingwood, Those are interesting images. Looks sharp but I was expecting false colours. Is this the image one would expect if one projected it or have corrections been made in the telecine transfer? Since the neg is rated at a lower ASA during shooting, hense overexposed, is it then pulled in pro...

Re: New Kodak Super 8 Camera Preview

I'm not sure why some think the sound was terrible. I had good results. Maybe it's dependent on the microphone quality. The beauty of sound cartridges was being able to capture synchronized picture and sound when people talked. You don't need super high fidelity for speech, just a good microphone so...

Re: New Kodak Super 8 Camera Preview

Any news on the new Kodak Super8 camera? Is it ever going to happen? In my opinion they missed their timeslot. Too much delay, all the media fuzz has gone, no hype, just more delays and another price jump. What do you think? The camera is way too expensive and it's huge. I don't know if Kodak inves...

Andreas Wideroe,
It's no problem if Kodak release the film in winter for me. I'm on the other side of the world and will it will be summer. :ymapplause:
So Kodak, don't be shy. Let us show the world what 100D looks like under the bright Australian sun.

Re: The return of Ektachrome - CES 2017

aj, Sorry for my misinformation about the film layers and thankyou for correcting me. It has been a long time since I read about how film is made and for some reason I made a mistake. I may have been thinking of the negative to print process and the illustrations used to explain it. As you say, one ...

Re: Canon 814 or 1014 spare part wanted

Will2, This is a very fine toothed plastic gear. It's 18mm diameter, 1mm thick, with 40 teeth of 1 mm tooth depth and helical cut. One would need a very high resolution 3D printer I think. Was going to try epoxy casting but I've got my doubts about how long the gear would last. Maybe I should try a ...

Re: Canon 814 or 1014 spare part wanted

Since it seems no one has a scrap Canon 814 or 1014 available for parts I am thinking of scraping my Canon 1014.
If you need a part let me know which part you want and if I get enough different parts wanted I won't bother to repair my camera.
