those upgrades are always tricky. On the one hand, it seems cheap and convenient - and many times ist seems easier to upgrade instead of going through the hassle of buying new. But then, econimcally, it doesn`t make much sense. Selling the old beast on ebay and getting a newer one costs less and the...

about the recelling, i just replaced the battery of an ipod, and was stunned how ridiculously small a liIon battery is today, not even to mention that it`s dirt cheap, too. I am thinking to glue two of those (2x 3,6V) inside of the beaulieu, and forget about the original battery holder, but they fit...

I did my best to use linux, but unfortunately the system is not ready yet to be used for - how do I put this - non-IT related work. If I had to set up an IMAP server, I'd get linux without thinking twice. But if I want to pop in a DVD, heck.. I want to watch the DVD, and am simply not willing to spe...

basically you can glue it back with anything that comes handy, BUT - remember that that tplate is supposed to be detacheable for service. Behind it are the potentiometers to regulate speed etc. SO use a glue that is adhesive anough to keep it in place, but can be unglued easily in order to have acce...

To little to actually guess what's going on, like what remains from a dream (nightmare, in this case) just the moment you wake up. I guess the blown out highlights are on purpose - I felt it's a bit to much super8 look (forgive me, you know what I mean), in a longer movie this would stran my eyes. B...

this may surprise since common wisdom says otherwise - but I would steer you away from the Bolex. In my opinion, it is the least usable 16mm camera around. The finder is crap, ergonomics are awful. And the cameras are way to expensive considering the practical use as a tool. Alteratives are plenty, ...

I had a lot of fun reding Rodriguez' Rebel without a crew, and the many 60's books for reg8 and s8 filmmaking. I have a nice home-movie guide written for the Beaulieu wind-up 8mm cameras. The book alone made me itchy to get one of the camera's! Reading how hard filming was back then, how enthousiast...

Well, I've heard that automobiles are doomed and the world's oil reserves are draining fast. Video should have ended that silly habit of going to a theatre 20 years ago, and TV made cinemas an anachronism in the 50s. Problem is, people are stubborn and cling to old habits. Like lemmings they rush to...

Welcome to 2005 :D Bsasically, yes - you can of course set a digital camera to the same iso, and use it as ane xternal meter. A very good one, since the histogram will give you a perfect reading. Perhaps the same iso won't work since I think few digital cameras go below ISO 100, but that would be a ...

OT: could somebody help me to pay in the US?
I'd need some hepl to pay for an auction I was a bit to spontaneous to bid, without noticing that the seller doesn't accept any modern payment methods. I'm now facing my first negative feedback on ebay, for a $20 item.. *sigh* OK, perhaps someone here is willing to help me out? The seller wants to b...
