Film buffs are very lucky to live in the UK.

I recently called ICE film hire in London and with optics the best rate they could do me was £900/week!

Why not shoot it on the a-minima: same size and noise as a super-8 but much better final product. that's an idea, but doesn't that require a lot of loading too? i never loaded one so i don't know how long it takes, but since it's only 200' there's a lot of changing spools? do you know how much they...

Yeah that's probably why my night, bonfire scenes on 500T came out so well. I had been speculating about why there was so little grain in that scene.

Shame you didn't go the HD transfer route. Those mountains beg to be bigger! Well - not sure how HD would make a mountain bigger? HD was never part of the visual design of this documentary. It's a 4:3 picture. I'm very pleased with the colors and quality of the high quality Thompson Shadow SD trans...

Why not shoot it on the a-minima: same size and noise as a super-8 but much better final product. If you want it dreamy and nostalgic shoot super-16 reversal or just grade the neg later to the look you want. You could even add grain if you have a particular fetish for the stuff.

Super-8 Cities DVD - get the last copies

Hi All I am down to my final lot of Super-8 Cities DVD stocks. I am not sure that I will be having more made, at least not with the 8 page booklet included, which is the most expensive part for reproduction at low volumes. So, I have maybe 10-20 copies left. Please pick them up while you still can. ...

I asked them to give me more of a punchy look. I never used Cinepost but from what i've seen has been too flat and washed out looking for my taste. It's only flat looking if you are used to exploding reversal colours from non-artificially lit shooting. That 'flat look' from the scan gives you the l...

The 7218 footage I had transferred at CinePost looked LESS grainy than this 7201.

And it had that creamy, smooth neg look absent in these stills.

And what's going on in those blues in the sky? Looks like an old VHS dub quality wise.

I don't like the look of how this footage has been transferred. The grain has been really exaggerated and the tones look garish and unlike how the V2 stocks are supposed to look.

Save your money, Quicktime Pro doesn't encode to MPEG 2

Th best results I've had are from encoding directly to .m2v files direct from Final Cut Pro. With only 45 minutes you can afford to set to the 7-8 range comfortably. Quality should be excellent.

Super!
It's a great film. I was really impressed!
