Re: Cinevate Battery Attachment to 15mm Rods

Thanks for the good suggestions. I found I had a Cinevate Atlas 10 vertical slider equipped with two 15mm rod brackets (affixed to a housing nearly identical to that of the battery), so I scavenged one of the brackets, drilled the battery case (after removing the front panel to assure clearance), an...

Cinevate Battery Attachment to 15mm Rods

I'd like to secure a Cinevate rechargeable battery (see http://www.ebay.com/itm/Cinevate-Multi-voltage-pro-camera-and-lighting-battery-/152443966492?hash=item237e5e541c:g:0DwAAOSwOgdYo3Gh) to a 15mm rod support system having the standard spacing. I queried Cinevate about this and haven't gotten a re...

Re: Switar 5.5 Rex circle picture

The 5.5mm f/1.6 H8 RX Switar lens is designed expressly for the H8 RX camera. It's made to cover the regular 8mm format (some of these lenses cover the Super 8 format). If you fit a lens hood other than the shallow hood made for the lens, that might've caused the vignetting you describe.

Re: Another new Super8 camera?

It was 77 or 78, that Arri showed a prototype pro super 8 camera at Photokina....but by then the video revolution had begun ...and super 8 had started a rapid downward spiral. Never went into production. Arriflex introduced the 16 SR in 1975, so it's surprising a DS8 camera based on the 16 St would...

In the late 1960s or early 1970s, Arriflex built several prototype DS8 format cameras based on the 16 St. I expect the response was such that further development wasn't warranted. I don't have more information at hand.

Re: Another new Super8 camera?

The drawing and rendering suggest a camera having a build-quality not seen since the Arriflex DS8 camera. It'd be wonderful to have another Super 8 camera debut in 2017, but this one might make the Logmar look like a bargain.

Re: New Kodak Super 8 Camera Preview

Does anyone know what a Beaulieu 4008 sold for new? I'd love to get an idea on how close the $2000 is to say 1972 prices...it would be roughly equivalent to $350 in 1972 prices. The Hervic Beaulieu price list for 26 October 1973 showed a list price of $999.00 for the Beaulieu 4008 ZM II camera w/Sc...

Re: Where can I buy a universal rewinder in the USA?

You'll still need the adapters to accommodate Super 8 reels. Yeah but those costs a dollar a piece instead of $35 a piece. http://www.ebay.com/itm/222294899454 If you're prepared to spend up to $150.00 for a set of rewinders, it's a bit surprising that you think the Brass adapters too costly. The p...

These two modified rewinders uses clamps and rubber pads instead of adapters, are they any good? http://www.ebay.com/itm/Moviola-Multi-Format-35-16-8-Super-8-Film-Rewinds-1-Size-Fits-All-Rebuilt-Set-/162347968315 http://www.ebay.com/itm/Moviola-Multi-Format-16-35-8-Super-8-Film-Rewinds-With-Arm-Bra...

Re: Ektachrome returns

This is wonderful news. I hope Ferrania will be able to introduce a competitive product to help keep prices tolerable. I wonder what the chances are for 100D in regular 8mm and DS8.

Re: Where can I buy a universal rewinder in the USA?

I only found one in The Netherlands. http://shop.van-eck.net/DV-0057-SET.html I need a rewinder for 8mm, super 8, 16mm. Just buy ordinary 16mm rewinders and get a couple of these adapters - http://www.ebay.com/itm/SUPER-8mm-ADAPTER-for-5-16-in-SHAFT-REWIND-/201597354195?hash=item2ef02380d3:g:vLEAAM...

I'd really like to have a low contrast color reversal film for use with my J-K K-104 optical printers, but I expect the demand for such a stock would be very small.

Re: DS8 Pathè cameras: how many?

P.S. Does anyone know what kind of battery goes in the light meter of this camera, and if there is a modern equivalent (Zync-air or similar)? The factory instruction manual specifies Eveready E1 or Mallory RM1 batteries. A conductive spacer of some kind would be required if a much more compact mode...
