Re: Any tutorial on how to capture color negative with RetroScan-HD Universal?
Hi, I don't use the RetroScan myself, but I would think the process is pretty similar to other scanner systems built on a frame by frame advance of the film and using a machine vision camera capture each frame. First, you need to set your camera to manual mode, no automatic brightness, colour, contr...

Re: New Kodak Super 8 Camera Preview
On the contrary, I don't miss sound cartridges at all. Having sound striped on film is so 1970s. ;) Much better to use an external digital recorder today. I got into Super8 around 1995. Only a few years with sound, but the sound was not good imho. Instead I used the format for the images only and I ...

Re: The return of Ektachrome - CES 2017
Same problem with Ektachrome as with the Super8 camera, they announce it too early, people get tired of waiting and jump off the wagon. Too bad they're not releasing anything before the winter (according to post above). 2 years after their announcement. I wonder if it will ever be released, but I ho...

Re: New Kodak Super 8 Camera Preview
Any news on the new Kodak Super8 camera? Is it ever going to happen?
In my opinion they missed their timeslot. Too much delay, all the media fuzz has gone, no hype, just more delays and another price jump.
What do you think?

Re: Summer Shooting Plans?
I'm keen on shooting some skateboarding. A road trip with a couple of friends, skating all the new concrete parks that are popping up around the country. 50D in beautiful summer weather would be sweet.

Re: Super 8 on Globe Trekker?
The silver boxy camera used on Globe Trekker is a BRAUN NIZO 801 MACRO Super 8. About $250 on ebay as of early 2018. Very cool looking camera but, really, why waste money on old technology when new technology can duplicate the retro super 8 film look! I love old tech and new tech. I use iphones and...

Re: New Nikon R10 owner with some questions..
The R10 is a great camera with a super nice lens. It gives fantastic sharp and clear images if it is in a good condition. I suggest contacting a camera repair shop. Ie. the one recommended above (I don't know this myself). Best of luck and sorry I can't give any more advice. I personally don't own t...

RIP Gottfried Klose (GK Film) passed away
Many of you already know, but for those of you who don't, I'm sorry to report that Gottfried Klose passed away on Feb 1st. He was the inventor of the GK Super8 cartridge and supplied the Cinevia film for many years. He was also the inventor of the high precision pressure plate for Super8 cartridges....

Re: kodak
I don't really want to say this, but I don't think there will be a new Super8 camera nor Ektachrome coming from Kodak. I think they missed their window. It is really sad and I really would have hoped they could have gotten this out a year ago when the anticipations and hype was still there. Now, wit...

Re: 16mm Transfer Grading, Pay or Play?
I'm doing professional transfers and grading almost every day and my recommendation to you is that: 1. If you have the time and interest in grading you should do it yourself. 2. If not, then get a natural looking scan (not scene by scene grade), but more like a one-light suggested by Pj, and then yo...
