Tri-X footage of white meerkat

Here's a very short clip of a white meerkat which I filmed at the Adelaide Zoo in South Australia. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SZYKN3yJFTU Apparently, this meerkat was born with normal colours but later in life, her fur changed to white due to a rare condition that's not fully understood. Suppos...

Re: Frame rate capture transfer question

Actually, there is another thing I'm wondering about - image stabilisation. Since I'll be advancing the film manually, each frame will probably be in a slightly different position. I'm going to try my best to line up the frame lines with lines in the camera's viewfinder but it's unlikely to be a per...

Frame rate capture transfer question

There's some super 8 footage that I need to get transferred for a family event that's coming up very soon. There's not enough time to send the film off so I'm thinking of doing the transfer myself. Ive thought of a rather crude and basic way of doing the transfer. It will be completely manual - no a...

Re: Trailer for my new film

Nice one patrick -looks great :) Thanks Miles and Jules! Actually another possible selling point about this film is some rather rare footage that is contained within. There's some underwater footage of Oceanic Common dolphins (you can see a brief glimpse of this in the trailer above.) Apparently, t...

Re: Trailer for my new film

I'm designing the DVD and Bluray covers for the film at the moment. And I'm pleased to say that although the film was a digital production, the main image on the front cover is a scan from 35mm slide film. Fujichrome Sensia if I recall correctly (probably 100asa.) Actually, there are quite a number ...

Re: Samples from In My Image 4k scan - down to HD

Man, those samples look great. I'm really liking the new transfer. With regards to retaining the 4:3 aspect ratio or crop to 16:9, I would stay with 4:3. After all, that's how the images were composed in the first place and you wouldn't want to compromise that. And you'd keep the viewers of the orig...

Re: 16mm Bolex Film Camera on a Drone

That's one of the coolest things Ive seen regarding mixing old and new technology. Previously, I was actually wondering if anyone had toyed around with mounting a cine camera to a multirotor. From time time, I attach my GoPro to my Syma X8C quadcopter for aerial footage and although it's certainly c...

Thanks for the good words! This will be the first time that the film will be screened in public.

Re: Pawn shop find - A great 16mm projector!

im wondering should i buy the projector like can you watch the films right after recording onto film You could do that but you would essentially ruin the film. Exposing it to all that light (outside the camera) would leave you with a blank film - ie no recorded image. or does it have to be sent to ...

Re: Trailer for my new film

Nice! Love the time lapse of the night sky rotating. It's amazing how many stars you can see out here on a clear, moonless night. And the camera picked up even more stars than I could see with my own eyes - billions of them. Even a few shooting stars too. Very, very nice. I especially like the wobb...

Re: Slight issue with Eumig 610D projector

Well I ended up screening the wedding film in front of the family anyway. And they thoroughly enjoyed it. One very odd thing though - the projected image was extremely dim. Even though I had the projector fairly close to the screen. And of course all the house lights were off. I guess the globe may ...

Re: Slight issue with Eumig 610D projector

Well that was a total non event. The film didn't end up being shown. By the way, there is a bit of mystery surrounding this film. There had been talk of some guy who had filmed my parents wedding on super 8 back in 1969. He asked for payment but my parents couldn't afford it so they didn't get their...

Re: Slight issue with Eumig 610D projector

Hey Scot. can't you pull the lense out forward as well? - just straight out of the mounting? Scot I guess I could if I rotate the focusing knob far enough. Though I might get worried about getting the lens back in! I think it would make things easier (with regards to cleaning and film extraction) if...

Slight issue with Eumig 610D projector

Over the next few days, some relatives will be staying and I plan to project a regular 8mm film of my parents' wedding from 1969. I don't think any of us have seen this footage before so it should be quite an occasion. I managed to find my Eumig 610D dual guage projector. It's a bit dusty and I have...
