But I have tried that and wasn't too impressed with the clarity of the image. Ya that more what I meant that color. In terms of lighting and being clear most videotaps just aren't great for that, from my experience. Really just put anything in there but for editing the scenes together that early wi...

I'm less concerned about color. It could be black and white. I just want an istant copy of a scene so I can edit it and view that day. That I'll know how the shoot went before it gets processed. If we decide that the scene needs to be re-done I'd rather know ASAP than only to see it didn't work afte...

MIY Video Assist

Is there any tutorial online that can show you how to make a video assist set up? It would really be something of use for my set. If I could record the feed and see the shhots before they are processed.

Yes, I had used DV before and thught it was lossy, but realized that it was actually the mic built in that was making it sound that way. Any reccomendations on mics? I have a boom that is meant for a camcorder, but I'm not too happy with it. I've heard some good things about Sony brands, but dunno i...

Recording Soundtrack with MiniDisc

So when my film group does shoots we typically record direct to hard drive, but we'll be having some shoots that are a bit more mobile this spring. So I've decided that I'm going to go with Hi-MD for situations where we need to be moving a lot. It offers better quality than standard MD and is easier...

Frozen Motor

So I was shooting with my Canon 514 XL the other day and it must have been 30 degrees F outside. I suppose I never really shot in the cold before, because I had found that my Camera began to run at 18fps for a few seconds and quickly slowed to a dead a stop. I was reading a post about faulty carts p...

Camera Schematics

Hello all, I was hoping to learn more about the engineering of my cameras that way if there ever minor issues with the camera I could fix it myself and only send it out to get sericed when there is a really huge issue. And even when I do send it out, I'd like to understand enough of what's wrong to ...

there's nothing wrong with minidisc and if you get a thin sound it's from the mic and its placement, it would probably have sounded similar on a nagra. the main difference between analog and digital is the compression that takes place on magnetic tape, while digital has a linear scale all the way u...
