Fixing a broken Bauer battery compartment - SUCCESS !

I'm sure many of us have come across the beautiful late 1960's/ early 1970's Bauer Super-8 cameras such as the Bauer C2A , which have broken battery compartment doors ( this seems to be a design flaw common in this era of Bauer cameras) . I have a Bauer C2A which was in perfect working order , excep...

Re: Modify 18 fps camera to run at 24 fps

You could contact Clive Tobin and ask him about it. Here's the official word from Clive: Hello, We never did actually offer this service, but we did at one time play with doing crystal control of the Kodak M2 camera. The speed adjustment is tricky, there are two adjusting screws in the centrifugal ...

Re: Alphacine in Seattle closing lab

Yeah, its just a shame that Spectra no longer does camera repairs anymore. They did a great job on my 1014AZE. Hi, Marc, As I understand it , the same technician that Spectra was using , Steve Willard, still does the repairs though his own company Willard Engineering . (but no longer affiliated wit...

Re: Repair Bolex 160 Macrozoom ? -- How do I open it up?

The end result : I was able to clean up the corroded light meter battery chamber (of this camera listed by the seller in "exc condition" ) with some vinegar and baking soda and a toothbrush , so the light meter is working now. Fortunately the corrosion had not worked it's way into the wiring . A sma...

I guess they tested this vintage ...

Re: Modify 18 fps camera to run at 24 fps

You could contact Clive Tobin and ask him about it. Part of the mod is adjusting the autoexposure for the faster rate. Probably more work that its worth, unless you've got such a camera handy and want to tinker. If you need a compact 24fps camera there are the models mentioned in that old thread, t...

Modify 18 fps camera to run at 24 fps

I've read about how with some cameras it is possible to tweak the potentiometer to increase the running speed from 18 fps to 24 fps . Does anyone know how to do this to a Kodak M2 Instamatic ? Apparently it can be done .... Referencing this post : http://forum.filmshooting.com/scripts/forum/viewtopi...

Re: Repair Bolex 160 Macrozoom ? -- How do I open it up?

For anyone else is having this issue (stuck Slow-Motion button) or has any other reason to get inside the Bolex 155/Bolex 160 , here's what I heard back from Mitch Perkins on how to get started: There should be two "set screws" that you can loosen first to get the focus knob off. Look on the side of...

This may help : Photos of Kodak's Super 8 Cartridge Opener - http://www.filmlabs.org/docs/cartridgeopener.pdf DIY Cartridge Opener - http://www.filmlabs.org/index.php/technical-tips/cartridgeopener/ I've also read that it is possible to pry open the rear panel of the cartridge with a flathead screwd...

Re: Repair Bolex 160 Macrozoom ? -- How do I open it up?

And the answer is : YES , it is that easy ! Unscrew the cracked plastic battery holder, swap in the uncracked battery holder from the other Bolex 160 and the job's done. Simple. I'm still interested to know if anyone has found a way to un-stick the 36 FPS button on the Bolex 160 if it gets stuck . I...

Re: Repair Bolex 160 Macrozoom ? -- How do I open it up?

If the only problem with your other camera is the broken battery holder I would swap them from your new camera. It's just 4 screws, a very easy fix. Looking at it I see the 4 screws on the battery holder and have so far resisted the temptation to unscrew them ... is it really that easy ? I was thin...

Repair Bolex 160 Macrozoom ? -- How do I open it up?

I could use some advice from anyone familiar with opening up and repairing Bolex 160 or Bolex 155 cameras. I'm not sure how to go about opening it up . I remember reading a previous post by Mitch Perkins describing his modification to turn the Bolex 160/155/150 into a manual exposure camera , but fr...

Re: Kodak Alaris

The new Kodak Alaris has a web site. Everyone needs to go there and start asking them to bring back EKTACHROME! If they get enough response maybe they will do something about it. http://1000words.kodak.com/ EDIT : well , never mind , I had a comment about that , but I just saw T-Scan's post that Ko...

If you do not need to change lenses, I'd recommend a Leicina Super (Leitz lens, robust and reliable manufacturing, picture quality, simple, et compact). http://www.super8data.com/database/cameras_list/cameras_image/leicina_rt1.jpg http://www.super8data.com/database/cameras_list/cameras_leicina/leic...
