Re: 50D looks great!

Maybe a slot between light and chip for a "neg filter"? You could even provide the "correct" colour to remove the orange mask?...God only knows what I'm using - a combination of green and blue swatches based on experimentation - but there must be a true, correct hue for this, no...

Re: 50D looks great!

Thanks Roger for a detailed and judiciously humourous reply! Sounds like it will be a great little unit for the negs, reasonably priced, and looks waaay cool to boot. Maybe a slot between light and chip for a "neg filter"? You could even provide the "correct" colour to remove the...

Re: 50D looks great!

I've only used the V3 200T so far and it was still finer grain than 100D, not to mention a whole lot sharper. If you want grain there's still 500T and TriX. 3 awsome negs in Super 8 is pretty cool, now all we need is Roger and his people to get that new scanner doing neg stocks and order will be re...

http://www.moviestuff.tv/ Looks like they did it! Don't think i'll be sparing on ordering up some 50D for my trip in 2 weeks! Then when i get back i'm going to construct a statue of Roger Evans in the town square! Congratulations! Remember though it isn't one piece of gear that's going to "do ...

Re: 50D looks great!

Ahh! I have one of those swatch booklets with every shade of gel there is. I've been planning to try that next. Cool! I think you'll find it makes a big difference. Light source intensity is another key parameter. Generally you're supposed to bring the negs in a bit milky, add the contrast [crush b...

Re: 50D looks great!

I know the man behind ochoypico.com. Have been a customer for years now and can assure he's a very fair person with no intention of autopromoting his own telecines, which I am recommending in this forum for years now... BTW give a look at his prices on his website :o The results worth it Well the s...

Re: Workprinter-HD Tests

So I finally have the Workprinter up and running for S8 (R8 to come). Here are some side by side tests with my two cameras. The Panasonic is sharper but the Canon colours are really nice. Here is a link, please tell me which you would prefer: http://www.gaugefilm.co.uk/1/post/2013/03/telecine-camer...

Re: 50D looks great!

Oops! Forgot to mention the insertion of a turquoise filter in front of light source, behind the projector gate... Is that an 82a filter? I'm wondering why you chose to place the filter in front of the light. Don't you have temperature problems that way? Any reason not to place the filter at a diff...

Re: 50D looks great!

Been there, simply inverting it leaves a lot of correction to be done just trying to eliminate the mask which uses all of your bandwidth. Oops! Forgot to mention the insertion of a turquoise filter in front of light source, behind the projector gate, during transfer. You need to get the whites [bla...

. I was going to shoot 24fps for a possible future blowup, leaning away from that now.. Mitch Hi Mitch - IMHO I'd shoot 18 fps and not worry about a blowup. Most theaters take digital projection nowadays so you're not limiting your "pro" angle by doing that, and in my experience, digitall...

Re: Kodak stops production of Ektachrome 100D

I think now would be the best time to do some kind of feature on S8 when you can tie 3 Vision3 neg stocks together. Could not agree more. Very excited. The key for me this time is to not even think about making money. Art for its own sake, put it up online. I was going to shoot 24fps for a possible...
