Re: New Danish Super 8 camera to debut in 2014

Well, I think a non reflex Bolex H8 with electric motor and a reflex zoom lens will do the same job as this new camera. (Som berthiot pan cinor d-mount or Angenieux c mount ) It just need screw off the eye piece tube and attach the LCD screen onto the view finder of the lens. Except it doesn't take...

Re: Kodak Touts Film Labs

My friend's lab isn't on the list yet, but that's just because it's still somewhat more oriented towards amateurs. That should change soon though, he's moving his lab soon to a bigger location and building a new machine that should be able to process 35mm as well. Also available will be ultrasound c...

Re: Software that detects/separates frames?

MPEG Streamclip allows you to output mov to image sequence:

It's a very useful piece of software btw -- much faster and better than Compressor for encoding aswell.

Maybe even before it Wittnerchrome 200D and hopefully next year -- new Ferrania film (http://filmferrania.it)! :)

Re: Need advice on Super 8

Unless that Beaulieu has been serviced I think that Canon is a good choice. Much more reliable. It's also very good camera with very sharp lens -- according to some tests it's in the top 5 sharpest of super-8 cameras with built-in lenses. But should you want something cheaper and serviced: http://ww...

Re: Beaulieu Repair manuals and others uploaded

That's frustrating. They refuse to release the service manuals , and yet they won't offer service on the cameras. What reason could they have for withholding the information ? (I can't imagine there are any proprietary trade secrets pertaining to modern camera design contained in that service manua...

Re: Eumig Mini 5

Hello Alex, I have been testing an Eumig Mini 5 I bought some time ago. It seems to run otherwise nice, but occasionally the motor seems to get stuck -- I can hear the motor near the lens trying to turn but film isn't moving. And then, after some time it might work again. I wonder if this is somethi...

Re: Discussions about a hypothetical new S-8 camera

This forum has never been one to NOT trail off on other tangents in any given thread. In fact, some of the most thought provoking ideas come from when you push the envelope and think outside of the box...or in this case, the gauge. We are entering an age of repurposing old technology. Who knows whe...

Re: Discussions about a hypothetical new S-8 camera

I really am tempted to say a few words on how a pencil is much more portable than any camera and produces nice pictures in good hands and doesn't cost much but since this is a small gauge cine film forum, I think I'll pass.. :? http://bestofthe80s.files.wordpress.com/2011/10/pencil.jpg It's Pro8mm F...

Re: shouting into an empty room

Certainly! I just hope that the "old ones" who have been extremely excited about some new things and then disappointed many many times let us younger ones have our own disappointment or joy. You have shot film in the 70s, 80s? I was born in the late 80s. Our family never owned a small gaug...
