John Pytlak's Current Health Status

I am still "hanging in there". The main issue is now getting enough protein and calories into my system to sustain itself. For now, the cancer center does NOT want to use direct protein infusion into an IV "PIC Line" which has a very high risk of infection that could kill me. The...

Able to use a walker to get around the house, and to twice-weekly IV hydration at the cancer clinic. Unfortunately, not able to get many calories or much protein int...

Hi, John. I was reading the article about you and had to chuckle when I read about your AM radio transmitter. Back in the early 70's I and my electronic gearhead friends acquired a surplus WW2 Navy AM wideband transmitter, and got the idea we'd run a pirate radio station from the friend's bedroom, ...

My hometown newspaper published an article about my long career in motion pictures: http://www.thesunnews.net/sunscene.php3?idkey=6590 Unfortunately, my health continues to deteriorate, as I cannot get enough fluid through my blocked small intestine to stay hydrated. I am down to only 119 pounds fro...

Kodak Consumer vs. Professional Films

Kodak consumer and professional films almost always have differences in the formulation, even for films that are identical in speed and color balance. And yes, different "keeping factors" are used to optimize the film characteristics under the likely conditions (time, temperature) that the...

CAT Scan - Not Good Results

My May 16 CAT scan showed at least three areas of blockage, caused by the tumors growing along my small intestine. I am barely able to get enough water into my system to stay hydrated. IV hydration is a short term option, but hospice is being strongly suggested. We gave it our best shot with Chemo t...

I've just survived another two-week round of chemotherapy to slow the tumor growth along my small intestine that are sometimes causing blockage. Chemo is definitely not fun, with extreme fatigue and nausea. But as they say, "no pain, no gain". Should have at least a two week break before t...
