Re: Hello from FILM Ferrania!

interesting quote from Dave with Ferrania over on Apug. In fact, because "regular" 8mm film is infinitely easier to produce, it's likely that we will produce a small batch to release alongside Super 8 - just to see how it goes. We have already had a conversation about this as a future pro...

Re: E100D in Double 8mm is back!

I love 8mm and super 8....but I cannot stomach the price to shoot it again. I think that is true for most former film-makers. I remember about a guy who gave up shooting a project in Super 8 when he found a Vintage Super 8 ap for his smart phone...the resulting video look just like his super 8 tran...

Re: RIP Lenny Lipton

I realize that he was an old man but do you know if he died of natural causes or something else?

Re: E100D in Double 8mm is back!

The other thing is that E100D is about 70 dollars for a 25 ft. roll of regular 8mm. It is about 50 dollars in Super 8mm. If they could just bring the price down to the same as the other Super 8mm stocks, it would be more affordable for most people.

Re: E100D in Double 8mm is back!

Everything is worse than a Kodachrome I would not say that. I think that 50D is a very nice stock. But you have to go the extra step of having it scanned before you can view it. I know some of the larger formats have viewers that allow you to look at the negative as a positive. I wonder if there is...

Re: E100D in Double 8mm is back!

I like the colors of E 100D but I have to say that the contrast is ATROCIOUS! It is worse than 1940's Kodachrome!

The guy that used to work for Spectrum, is he still in the business? I think his name was Willard. He did great work.

Alstar

Does anybody know who made the lenses for the Alstar cameras? I know that the camera manufacturer is Toho Giken. But I have a feeling that the lneses are Pentax made. I am interested in knowing from anyone that has information on this. Thanks.

I judge that one guy to be a lunatic on the singular fact that he is wearing a Che Guevara shirt. But he did not disappoint in other ways either.

Re: Super8 and its Cult of Personality

Any endeavor has a cult of personality. This is not unique to Super8. This is huamn nature and the human condition. You find this a lot in sports, in high school cliques, fashionistas, geeks with their technology. Are you aksing if there is a certain pretension that goes around in the Super8 communi...
