That's probably the best way to do it - even the good condition working ones are pretty cheap, and then you will have a spare camera (so long as you dont want to use them both at once..)

I wouldn't say it's dark, just that all the highlights are blown out and there are no details in the shadows. But I'm getting on a bit, so maybe it's just my eyes.

Dont even think about the UWL with scratches - they will show up clearly on anything you shoot... I bought one cheap (30 bucks I think) because I thought it was worth a try - money wasted :cry:

Commiserations - my visacustic died a couple of weeks back also - it powers up & lamp is ok but no motor action at all. Need to perform surgery on it, but out here in the West Indies donor parts are going to be a serious problem... good luck.
