Discount on K40 in lots of 5
Does Kodak still offer a discount on K40 when ordering in lots of five? They did at one point, but I can't find any reference to it anymore. Does it have a separate catalogue number if they do? I usually buy from B&H, but I was considering trying direct from Kodak again. That's never gone smooth...

I doubled the times, which seemed to work, but there was a problem of some kind. It didn't fully reverse. After the bleach, it says the rest of the process can be done in the light. At that point, it was a nice negative. After the rest of the steps, it was neither a negative nor a positive. For exam...

Times for a rewind tank vs. spiral
When using a rewind tank, do the times for each stage stay the same? I know it's supposed to take one minute to wind the film from one side to the other, but if the directions call for 10 minutes, does that mean ten passes, or do I need to compensate for only a small portion of film coming into cont...

Re: unusual request - expired/useless S8 cartridge?
I obviously don't want to do this with any fresh stock, and you don't get the carts back after processing, obviously. I don't know where you get your film processed, but you can get back the empty cartridge if you ask for it from Dwayne's. Just write that you want it back in the special instruction...

Well, leader isn't strictly necessary, but without it, you'll always miss the first several seconds of the film when projecting and run the risk of chewing it up irretrievably. Dwayne's does attach leader. When prepping for telecine (a free service they offer), they attach a large amount to both ends.

It is Kodachrome, but I believe only products made by Kodak can be called that. His film is from Kodak, but he cuts it and packages it himself (I gather, I don't know--maybe Kodak cuts it, but he definitely packages it), so it isn't a Kodak product and can't be called Kodachrome. 100' 16mm spools ar...

I've got a DeVry portable projector. The last copyright on mine is from 1919, I'd guess it was at least from the early 20s. If they go up to $200, I guess I got a good deal at $19. I did see the Acme clone go earlier this week for something like $150, but it was better advertised (the listing I boug...

Thanks for the belt links. I haven't run it yet (obviously), but there are two controls on the top for the lamp brightness and the motor speed. You say it runs at 16fps, how much to either side of that can it go? It also doesn't say what kind of lamp it wants. It looks to be a standard lamp socket, ...

Projector belts & building an optical sound reader
My DeVry portable projector arrived today, I paid $19 for it from eBay. All of it looks great, even the electrical parts seem to be holding up after 86 years of use, but the belts need to be replaced. Does anyone know of a source for belts that fit it? Or belts at all? A bit off topic, I know, but 3...

Re: Two Questions!
That's the nature of a spring. Fancier cameras (your Bolexes and Beaulieus) will have a governor or something similar to cut the motor when the spring's tension begins to drop. In most clockwork cameras, the spring just winds down. 2) I viewed a recently restored dvd of "Potemkin". I would...
