It's reversal, so you want to get it on the nail regardless of how old it is. No overexposure. Kodachrome 40 is very slow anyway and deteriorates extremely slowly so I suspect your film being not all that old will be fine.

The only issue I had, was that it was a pain in the ass to load. vidwerk. Really????!!!!! I have a 240EE and the thing I most love about it is how easy it is to load the thing! As well as the afore mentioned long spring winds! The 240EE seems to just load itself for me it forms the loops and thread...

This is really easy to do in Sony Vegas!

Not only are there presets for common aspect ratios but there is a really very easy to use interface for cropping the video in any way you might so desire, and the whole process works incredibly fast.

Worth checking out.

It's true Kodaks prices have always been a bit all over the place but colour neg has always been cheap here (the u.k.) in S8. In fact it used to be much cheaper! About £6 a cart a few years back but the price has gone up a bit.

Kodak announced that 5219 would be available in S8 way back at the launch, so I'm sure it will arrive as they have already announced it.

It should be intresting, when it finally does arrive.

It seems the straightforward thing to do would be to just mask either the gate or the projection lens itself. Shouldn't be too difficult and then you could easily switch back and forth between standard and super! After all you might want to do something strange in S16 in the future. Super16 projecto...

Thanks David! That makes total sense. :) Presumably trix is the same speed as always then! I forgot that B&W film was all back to front and blue sensitive! Presumably this also means that tri-x was always 200ASA in daylight and hasn't moved and people have always had this problem and just ignore...

That is probably a result of the light loss by the prism and lens; you need that extra 1/3 stop exposure because of the loss of light. Paul But surely the camera metering is already compensating for this, especially if it is ttl metering! ;) It may be that even reversal has enough lattitude to deal...

Anyway, you cannot set the camera for ASA 64T and expect any good result for the TRi-X... *giggle* I meant if I open up the camera and adjust the auto meter to read 40ASA as 64ASA. That would have a knock on effect with all other filmstocks of course, as the meter would now read a half stop faster ...

I'm trying to get my head around the changes in chemistry for Plus-x and tri-x. My understanding is that both the older and newer films react the same way if put in the same chemicals so it's really the changes in chemistry I need to worry about. I have some old rolls of plusx but these will be 100 ...

I've got a number of these mags still sealed in their kodak packaging containing Colour neg film!!! Preety crazy stuff. I guess the best thing to do would be to treat them like 16mm mags on the bigger cameras and load them and unload them for processing. That way you could quickly switch filmstocks ...

I'd be careful. Don't forget that this is reversal. The advice about overexposing outdated stock generally applies to negative stock where there is more latitude. It's harder with reversal as it likes you to get the exposure on the nail. The good news is that Kodachrome is both slow (so ages slower)...
