Elmo super wide F20S-XL

Hi, I just got a good condition Elmo Super Wide F20S-XL, I have been looking for one for a long time. I have a special film I want to do with it, more on that eventually. The question I have is : The super8wiki claim it can do 18 fps and 1 fps. As there are no speed settings, I assume you can do sto...

Re: Super 8 blowup to 16mm

Thanks for the replies. I asked Niagara Custom Lab by email a few weeks ago but never got any answers. I think I will call them instead. I will also contact Studiogamma and BBoptics and wait for their quotes before I decide. Obviously if anybody have first hand experience with either Andec, Studioga...

Super 8 blowup to 16mm

Hi, Is there any lab that can do super 8 reversal blowup to 16mm reversal beside Andec ? I have Andec quote, and will go with them, unless there is something better/cheaper. I know that the lab would probably need to produce a negative 16mm intermediate, I guess it's the only way to do it nowadays. ...

Re: I have made up my mind.

I went through the same process a couple of weeks ago. I came very close to buy a Krasnogorsk 3 (Almost pressed the buy it now button). I changed my mind when I realized what were my needs... And went for an Arriflex 16SB instead. Not that I don't like clockwork mechanisms (in fact I do like them) b...

My Super 8 setup for Shuttle Endeavour's Last Launch

Hi, Here is a couple of pictures of my Super 8 setup (actually it was super 8 and single 8 ) during Space Shuttle Endeavour launch on may 16th. Needless to say that I was standing out amongst the "cellphone camera" crowd... https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/_cBFAGh-7Zl0/TdmnQowvvGI/AAAAAAA...

Re: Introducing kids to film...

That's a good idea. Too bad my kids are now too old to show super 8 movies at school. Even if my kids are used to see me with my super 8 stuff, their friends (in the 16-20) always ask for more.

I sent 7 films to Retro in Japan on November 2010 and got them back a few weeks later. No problems.

Re: What codec to use for iPad movies?

Oh, man! I just tried it! That's awesome! Could not be easier. Works just great and cuts my file sizes in half. Thanks!!!!!! Now I'm going to go back and re-render all my clips on my JQ page. Re: Nizo 801 auto B feature

. I was curious just like you, and so I did some testing. Since the 801 loads from the rear, you can indeed look through the lens with the shutter wide open. I did this, and noticed that in cases where auto B would be necessary, the aperture blades are always wide open. I am sure the blades are alw...

Re: Nizo 801 auto B feature

That's because you do not need to set the aperture, I think you will find that... 1. The camera opens the aperture fully regardless of the viewfinder indication, 2. The shutter is open until the correct exposure time is achieved, then it closes to move the film on and opens for the next exposure pe...

Nizo 801 auto B feature

Hi, I am currently experimenting with my Nizo 801 "auto B" function. At first sight, it looks like it is working ok i.e. it will expose for a longer time if there is less light and a shorter time when I crank up the light. However, the iris setting seems to have no effect. For example if I...

Re: My SF film - UPDATE -

I have to say, I really like that command center cockpit. If I could have that in my house, I doubt I would need any other part of the house except for the bathroom and a cot. Wow. Seriously. Yes it was fun. Too bad it's been dismantled. (Had to film everything inside that set in a rush as I was mo...
