I personally would be loathed to go to sprawl-mart (copyright the simpsons), but you can tell yourself that since the processing is probably one of their loss-leaders, and if you only pay for the processing you are actually costing the corporation money. I guess it just depends on how much dwayne's ...

You can eat dinner out or you can get a take away. The take away is more practical - often cheaper, yet people still go to restaurants. The CD usually sounds better than a live gig but 100s of concerts go on each night. It's cheaper to drink at home than in the pub. If everyone is miserable and thin...

Although nothing like it was before TV, cinema admissions in the UK have been steadily increasing since the early 80s http://www.bfi.org.uk/filmtvinfo/stats/boxoffice/admissions.html . I think you make the mistake booster of presming that people always want to do what is most practical and cost effi...

I had my suspisions too that they might be the same battery, they do look amazingly similar some even have the air holes in the same place. I have read that article and it is interesting to see that apart from the initial voltage of the battery, the voltage under load and as the battery depletes. Th...

In the UK government Arts council and National Lottery money is paying for digital projection to be installed in 250 cinemas around the UK. In exchange for the equipment they will guarantee to show a certain number of 'specialised films' read more. http://www.sgrin.co.uk/2563.html I think that is a ...

of all the 8mm film cameras the canon DS8 must be one of the sweetest - I'm truely jealous - my quarz ds8 just doesn't compare - but I'm pleased you for you - hope you enjoy.

I hope that DS8 Boley went to a film maker rather than a collector - that would be too much of a waste.

There was a crystal sync and power grip going about the same time too - would have been pretty nice - if I wasn't such a broke student.

I always use 1.4V hearing aid batteries on my Nizo 561 Macro and I tested them in comparison to the Zinc Air 1.35 replacement ones they sell at Jessops. They both give exactly the same reading. I have shot loads of rolls with the batteries and they work just fine. I like my Nizo loads by the way. I ...

the nizo'z - at least the 481 561, 801, pro etc, all read the speed notch of a cartridge with the mechanism shown below.

It can read continuously anywhere up to 160(no filter notch)/250(with filter notch).

Re: First roll of sound film back...

The sound is a little strange, it sounds like the camera shot the film around 22 fps and not 24. IE: I should have tested the film speed with something at 24 before shooting real sound film. It stays in perfect synchronization, but all of my family's voices including mine are a little lower than th...

I have one that likes to scratch film when rewinding due to part of the plastic film path being broken (I think) - hope yours is kinder to your film.
