A "perfo tape recorder" is uses standard 1/4 " tape which has a row of perforation holes (round or rectangular) in the geometric centre of the tape. The perforation is exactly between track 2 and track 3 and does not affect the magnetic tracks when playing or recording. It is an evolu...

reversal processing ANDEC / Berlin vs. FOTOCINEMA / Rome

When doing test shoots with the new film stocks, I did not like how the E64T came out (colored heavy grain, soft, not sharp image, exagerated colors). I had it developed at Andec. Following the advise of Ugo Grassi, I sent two more films to the Roman lab FOTOCINEMA, only to check the results from th...

defective cinevia cardriges: I only want to clearify, that I have no doubts that cinevia, when packed correctly in a working cardrige, is a very good stock. I may have got cardriges from a bad batch. They all had been without sealing & paperbox, all together in a plastic bag and with a green rou...

I would like to add to my post, that I still am waiting for two E64T films, I sent to FOTOCINEMA to Rome. The processing may influence the result significantly, therefore I wanted to try out a lab different to Andec. Perhaps, these two rolls will come out better, but I doubt very much that any finet...

Wittnerchrome - Cinevia - E64T PROJECTED

Hi Folks, I have been very busy moving to a house plus spending nearly 6 weeks in South America this summer. But I found time to shoot the new filmstocks, and in my house I just have a brand new 1,9 m wide motor screen in the living room! Yesterday I got the films back from the Andec lab and I want...

Considering the price of raw film, I think it makes no sense to economize too much with the projector. There are people who are not willing to spend more than the price of 2 or 3 carts on the projector! There are several aspect to consider when purchasing a projector: Brightness: very important, as ...

Elmo ST1200 won´t work, becaue it has an induction motor that cannot easyly be regulated in both directions (slower and FASTER). The pulse output only is not enough. For the ST180 however, I see some chances to make it compatible for regulation, but only when using the universal synchronizer mode...

My first tests with M-Audio Microtrack 2496 prove, that this small flash recorder is exeptionally good. I use a 1 GB flash disc that can record even wav files (not only mp3). Direct record level control and balanced, phantom powered microfone sockets. http://www.m-audio.com/products/en_us/MicroTrack...

Please note, that the ONLY projectors with DC motor and pitch control can be modified. The reason is, that whith this system, you did not apply any regulation between sound and film during shooting. You only logged the speed and running gehaviour of your camera. So regulation must be applied in post...

Hi! I don´t know anything about this system, but when recorded to a tape during shooting, it only can be a 1000 Hz sync track recording or sth similar. So I guess, everytime you press your camera shutter, the tape registers one "beep" while one film frame is going to be advanced. The la...

synchronous running is alway a question of matching the absolute "speed" of two devices, one of them is the camera, the other anything that can record and playback sound. Technically, there are only two possible ways. The first one is to relate each of the devices to a common, very exact f...

sorry people, cameras never hold sync, any result you get in wild sync is only occasional. When you set your camera to 24 fps, it may shoot at 23, or 23,2 or 23,7 or 24,1 or.... any variation is possible. Each camera has an other ABSOLUTE shooting frame rate. Same with analog sound recorders and pro...
