Re: Light Meters, advice ?

You will find countless different light meters for reflected readings, but for incident readings the number is not so big. I bought a Gossen Profisix for 60 Euros and I'm very happy with it - very fast and easy reading. You can also use it in low light conditions when selenium cells don't give you a...

Re: Fixing a Lomo Lid

Hi Kevin! I knocked the tank - the bottom part - against the tap in the dark one time. Part of the rim broke off, about 3 cm down. Out of desperation I glued it with super glue. Super glue does a very good job with the bakelite; it is in an area that is hardly touched by the chemicals but does get w...

Re: Processing Tri-X with Foma chemicals

I had used the Foma kit when you had to dissolve the potassium permanganate, which is part of the bleach, and I have been using it since it became a concentrated fluid to dilute. In neither case I had a problem with it. Ofcourse you have to prepare the solution immediately before use and you can onl...

Re: Processing Tri-X with Foma chemicals

Welcome to the forum! I personally have never processed Tri-X in the Foma kit, but 7 min sound about right; 4 min for the Plus-X seem to be a little short?! You don't have to worry about the second developing time, you can NOT overdevelop - so just stick to the 5 min. A, C and D solutions are coming...

Re: Foma reversal developing question

I can not imagine that Ilford ASA 3200 film is good for reversal developing. You can try but you won't find times for it anywhere. If you are talking about negative developing: the Foma developer of the reversal kit will lead to very contrasty negatives, which you will not be happy about for printin...

Re: Any camera disengange the built in filter automatically?

Most of the cameras have a pin in the film compartment, which disengages the filter when a cartridge without bottom notch is inserted. This does not mean that all of those cameras can read E100D right; some will take it as 160D and therefore underexpose slightly.

Re: life of dichromate bleach

The bath is not poisonous. It is strong acid. So its danger is immediate eye or skin damage. The basic chromate powder should not be snorted for extended periods of time. Lab rats don't react well to that after passing so much percent of their bodyweight. A small excerpt from the Material Safety Da...

Re: life of dichromate bleach

I guess you can't judge by the colour. Mine lost its bright orange colour already after bleaching two films. You will see when it's exhausted on the developed film as very bright areas on the image have some greyness in them. Due to the poisonous character of dichromate I changed to permanganate a f...

Agfa confuses me

On Wittner's internet site http://www.wittner-cinetec.de/neu/news2013.php#20130118-1 you find a picture http://wittner-cinetec.de/neu/grafiken/2013/20130118-1a_g.jpg of a material "that could have a future in small film application." Wittner is looking for people testing the material on 16...

Re: Bolex 'B' & 'P' Regular 8 cameras - no loops?

The take up reel should not be able to effect your image, no matter how hard it pulls. For this reason there is a rubber cylinder where the film has to turn from the gate to the take up reel, which is an angle of around 310°, depending on how much film is on the reel already. If the rubber has go...

Re: Kodak stops production of Ektachrome 100D

Any option is better than no option at all. Remember also that Edward Turner was coaxing colour from black and white film stock, how he did this (filters) is still something of a mystery to me, but did it - he did. The frames are exposed alternatively with a red and a green filter. This filter chan...

Re: Plus-X Developing Times?

Sorry, I figured only a bit after writing my last post that you wanted to do negatives. Ofcourse, D-76 wouldn't produce enough contrast for reversal.
