Re: Light reading with a polarizer.

But shouldn`t the through-the-lens meter automatically adjust properly to external filters? Why are polarizers different in that regard?

Also, I`m shooting with a Canon 814XL-S. It does have exposure compensation.

Oh really. That sucks. I hope I didn`t waste my film.

Light reading with a polarizer.

I've been playing around with my linear polarizer and other filters today with a roll of Tri-X. When I have the polarizer turned to it's "darkest" position my light meter seems to register more light, closing the aperture up by about one stop. When it's in its "brightest" positio...

100D with 814XL-S

Hi there. I've yet to shoot any 100D yet. I just purchased 6 carts. I have an 814XL-S; what will my camera read as the speed? What adjustments should I make with my aperture, if any? Also, it seems counterintuitive but should my filter be switched to the lightbulb, disabling the internal filter? Tha...

Re: Home movies

This idea reminds me a recent award-winner documentary which has won the 1. price in Carlovy Vary (Chech republic) in its category. It was filmed in Hungary in the riverside of the Danube: http://www.magyar.film.hu/object.f5436702-979a-454b-a36d-ed4cd143875d.ivy Ahhh, great stuff! Vision3 filter notch?

I've received a few Vision3 carts for Christmas. I don't know much about the cartridge notches, but I'm assuming the new Vision3 are like the Vision2 series and don't have a filter notch to enable the internal 85B? I'm not really willing to start cutting my own notches, so; would it be recommended t...

Yap. Same rules.

(Hey Justin; I'm still sending those carts for that order I placed months ago. In a tragic turn of events, student loans raped my bank account, bahaa.)

Re: For your consideration

Comparing contemporary Oscar nominees/winners with winners from different times/eras is kind of pointless. Certain times creates certain subject matter, themes, structures, etc. (escapism films seem to be the big trend of the last 8 years or so). Just because the Dark Knight is a superhero film, wit...

Huge Free Film Archive

If anyone is interested (and I suspect there will be); I came across an amazingly great, free online film archive of thousands of old amateur films from 1919 onwards. Lots of great world fair films, family vacations, old news reels, really old television ads, etc. I can't believe I'm just finding ou...

This depresses me. All these cheesey, lame celebrities "wearing" the cameras like fucking accessories. I hope this doesn't get out of hand.

Re: Wal-Mart processing in Canada

I don't get it. Why would you actively seek out a middleman? I'm assuming the price must be a bit better? I still wouldn't want to trust the incompetent high school Wal-Mart photolab dinks in my area with the shipping and handling of my precious film. Also, haven't there been more than a few Wal-Mar...
