If you have After Effects - it has a pretty good one and it can be done per color channel. This is a big help, especially for S8 grain removal since the grain rate is not the same for all channels.

Yeah, the 500T will be replaced with a better 500t. Seems there are complaints that current 500t is really ASA320. It performs much better if treated as 320 - you getter better grain and maintain good blacks. This is why many just skipped the 500t in the 35mm world. 800 for interior and 200 for exte...

http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=8254765&type=product&id=1170290184207 Another "I don't get it"-product: It claims to shoot at 1920 × 1080 pixels = 2025k pixels. Nevertheless the same device claims to have only 520K effective pixels!? So it's real resolution is on...

I have 2 D10. Both works well. The only flaw in one of them is the contact for the extra battery pack (in order to do high speed/slo-mo) is a bit loose. So using it for 36/52 fps is a bit tricky at best. Actually, other than that, it works flawlessly. The zoom motor is actually the smoothest I have ...

FYI - Avid has a great cross platform QT codec that is visually lossless. It is not lossless in the classic sense (like Animation codec). But it is good enough that you would be hard pressed to see the difference between uncompress and the Avid codec even if you A/B switch it. The data rate is varia...

Well my camera (Autopak D10) does EV and not F-stop for over/under. .5/1/1.5/2 EV steps. I wanted to do a slight over for 64, and 1 full stop over for 500. I end up using 10 rolls (5 for each). I am going to get it developed and either transferred in HDCAM/DVC Pro HD or scanned to image sequence. Ho...

So I brought 5 500T and 5 64. So far I am overexposing the 500T by 1/2 to 1 f-stop. And 1/2 stop for the 64. Once I get back I will transfer it to HDCAM and will post stills when it is possible. Thanks for the tips btw - I decided to use a classic meter to test. My camera was off by -1/4 fstop. So I...

Hi Matt

Thanks for the tip. I should be able to use my old meter and a digital still camera for this ( I think... I'm an editor/post supervisor and not a dp).

Thanks again!

If any one else tips or experiences they want to share... TIA

Lucky me but needs help

Hi guys I just got 10 rolls of Vision 500T and 10 rolls of 64 Ekta as wedding presents from a director/dp friend of mine. I just wanted to know if my Minolta D10 will be able to read the ASA/DIN properly for these new stock. The D10 is rated up to 640 for color stock but I never want to assume. I am...

Mattias Understood perfectly. For video it is slightly different. Because that itself is driven by another gamma profile. This is because video playback on many computer desktop applications is driven by the video cards 'overlay' function. A secondary gamma/color profile kicks in separate from your ...

Mac displays are colour calibrated and most PC displays are not. This is wrong. Monitors don't calibrate themselves automatically. There are standard profiles that comes with your OS and/or video card drivers or your monitor profile. There is no special process or technology that Mac monitor goes t...

Roger Macs and PCs have different gamma standards for monitors. Mac is set to 1.73 and PCs are at 2.53. every PC set up could be totally different. Whereas looking at the internet on a Mac means that all imagery passes through a color management system that interprets the color data and alters it be...
