Re: Blast from the Past CHAS @ My house, Portland, OR

Hey James! haha - just checking this out now. Nice to see those old pix! I don't come to this board as much as I used to. Hope you are having fun in Texas. I hope to visit Roger some day so maybe I can swing by to your parts. I shot Westsider primarily on a Nikon R10, a Canon 814 AZ and a few days o...

Re: Agfa 200D & Fuji 100D Available in the States!?

The Reel Image has been around for awhile. But I didn't realize they had a website until now.

Good question regarding the film stocks. Anyone check this out? I wonder who is cutting it down for them/packaging it.

Re: A Straight 8 Reject

Its an accomplishment to get 9 screenings of an independent film but submitting to 90 festivals seems like self abuse! There is only a handful of major festivals that can break film so apart from the local festivals you can attend (and exploit the filmmaker pass) and the odd super 8 niche festival,...

my hat is off to anyone who tries to independently finance their own feature. Best of luck with your film!

Re: A Straight 8 Reject

This is where you edit in-camera, right? Yes, that's correct - you get one roll of film and have to shoot your film in sequence - all one takes - no editing - you then send your exposed film off to be developed. Whilst you do that you make a sountrack for it. You then don't get to see the film unti...

Re: A Straight 8 Reject

Rejection sucks, hell I just got one today myself. The thing is, people that program festivals are generally not creative or they would make their own films Some of them are bitter former filmmakers. Some start fests just to guarantee their own films or their friend's films will show. This has been...

Re: A Straight 8 Reject

I just watched it. I thought it was really well done. This is where you edit in-camera, right? Lots of different angles and cuts, no noticeable errors. Good little story, narration, music is fine. The bar must be set quite high if it was rejected. If I could predict how film programmers think I woul...

Re: Bad experiences with Pro8mm

I would highly recommend using Spectra instead of Pro8mm. Spectra was started by two fed-up employees of Pro8mm that wanted to give people good customer service and no excuses. I've only used them for one project but they were a pleasure to work with and did, IMHO, a great job. Another company is Ya...
