Kodak set to quit camera film business (...but)

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-19366113

Bad news for those of us into stills photography, but half way down the page or so...
It would leave the business focused on printers, cinema film stock and chemicals.

Re: 70mm Highspeed cameras

We had one of their 35mm high-speed cameras in the Blue Audio Visual shop when it was still open, I suppose it must have been at least 10 years ago.

I think it was probably one of these, I can remember the back being very 'boxy' and black...

Re: I'm Back

Our filmstock sales has gone down with about 50% each year for the past 2-3 years and this year so far we've hardly sold any film. I think we've only processed about 10-20 rolls so far. I'm quite amazed about how fast this shift has come and Kodak's financial troubles does not help AT ALL. It's lik...

Re: How might I achieve this SFX?

If you're PC based (or have access to a PC for at least the import/export stages) you can do it with Virtualdub as long as you can turn it into a file type that it will recognise. Once you've loaded it into Virtualdub you can export it as a .jpg sequence, go into Photoshop/Gimp/Paint.net etc. and do...

Well the Guiness Book of Records crew believe it, and I'm sure they've check it out....

Surely after spending so much time, energy and money building up the collection a bit of copying and pasting from eBay can be forgiven???

Re: Still time before xmas for Super 8...

Standard "super saver" shipping is free
Nothing 'free' that I can see there, it's built into the price...
so a few dollars from your purchase goes to support the site, too.
A few pitiful microcents per copy maybe???

Bah Humbug!

And a merry Xmas to one and all!

Re: Shipping film: is x-ray problem or not?

I handle the processing/transfer of an awful lot of Super 8 film, and have done so for years, and seeing X-Ray damage is VERY rare, if not absolutely unknown. The most recent one I can remember was some footage that someone had taken in SE Asia (Thailand maybe?), it was very apparent that it had bee...

Just for the sake of sheer pedantry the 3rd accessory lens in that range was a close-up lens - a really big chunk of glass.

I sold one to Tim (etimh) a couple of years back BTW...

'Backlight' ALWAYS means more exposure, never less.

The backlight control would give approx another stop MORE exposure, so would make the problem even worse...
