Consider yourself safe... I only check the one's convenient to me! I live in Parkdale. I will say that I see more Super 8 at the Sally Ann than at the Goodwill...

The Goodwill at Yonge and Bloor has often had a nice cache, but they always keep 'em for auctions.

Hey Rick, I look around the local thrift stores occasionally. Nothing Super 8 lasts very long in Toronto. I think there's more than a couple of us around! Some of the Goodwill's know that Super 8 is a little treasure, because they hold back all of the Super 8 cameras for "auction day" (whi...

Wow -- I can't believe they had no submissions. I definitely would have proposed/submitted something had I known. As far as Camera... it just isn't feasible for an independent filmmaker. Rental price starts at $700/night for a 95 seat venue. That doesn't make any sense -- it's in the same ballpark a...

:( We walked right past Taste and missed it... really need to study that programme before going out next year. We filled the night and still missed so much cool stuff that I would have tracked down had I known. I've been in Taste when they were screening other stuff. Seems like a good venue -- and i...

That's an interesting thought. Last cartridge I had that jammed was also stored in the fridge. I wonder if anyone else can correlate those two things?

Do you have any process/ritual when loading a new cartridge? At York U, they taught us to always firmly tap the edge of the cartidge against your hand (like a cigarette box) to loosen stuck emulsion and then wind by hand to tighten any slack. We were warned that failure to do so would result in jamm...

Thank you Jörg, that helps a great deal.

I was not loading the film in "L" because the projection lamp was lit at that position, so I assumed the "L" meant "light".

This board always amazes me with its helpfulness!

Further googling hasn't turned up any info -- except that I think I spelled the name wrong. I think it's a Silma S111.

Help loading a Silwa projector

I picked up a Silwa S111 -- a typical good Super 8 deal, it was $1 at a church bazaar. After a quick clean and lube, it works well. The drive works both directions, the belts are in good shape. Even the bulb is in good shape. Unfortunately, I am stumped on how to load this projector. I can't puzzle ...

Hi Nicholas, so glad you could make it out! They did eventually project my film, but the Drake also interupted the evening by switching to their usual "art/documentary background imagery" screenings. The festival organizers finally got the Drake to put the festival films back up. I was the...

Is your film actually screening at the Drake prior to 10:30pm? Can you please clarify.... ...that is what I was hoping. NK No, I think the screenings start at 10:30 as well. That's when I'll be going. Here's the info directly from TUFF: Screening of TUFF films at the Drake! On Tuesday September 11t...

Nicholas, our film should be in the lineup tomorrow night. I'd love to meet you there -- please introduce yourself! For anyone else in Toronto, tomorrow is the big day -- "Postering" will be playing on the TTC screens once every 100 minutes, so time your trips well. Like Nicholas said, the...

My short at the Toronto Urban Film Festival

Hey guys, just wanted to share the excitement! A new short that I have been working on has been accepted into the Toronto Urban Film Festival. It's an interesting festival for one minute, silent shorts which are going to be programmed on the Toronto subway TV screens. The short is called " Post...
