How to measure 35mm film length in dark

Hi I need to accuratly chop a 400ft roll of 35mm in half as we only have a 200ft mag on our eclair 😩 what’s the best way to do this - it’s going on a core - cheers miles

Wow transfer looks good even with the warping - the film we transfer was way filthier

Yeah ya have to let it dry out first before putting it through the machine- it still leaves a layer of dust over everything

Well I had to coil the film into a huge pile and let it dry out-the vinegar is sort of slimey - so let that dry for a few days outside because of the fumes-then put it through the universal - the beginning was watchable for 5mins after that it was completly abstract- but amazingly the optical sound ...

Ok fixed it - I hadn't noticed the 4 screws on base of handle cause they were hidden under a black leather cover-lucky that just peels off- so all it needed to fix the sticky mess was a bit of lithium grease and the the four base screws slightly loosened- I reckon it must have been dropped at some s...

Thanks guys- yep what I was worried about is if I put any kind of oil in there - could it top the power from going on? Not sure what the wireing looks like inside the Handel

Hi guys- picked up a nice beaulieu 4008 reciently - only problem so far is the power switch on its weird Handel- if its pushed in - I need pliers to get it out- anyway of lubing it up (wd40) or somthing?

If ya camera has synchro scan / clear scan adjustment of the shutter you can get rid of the flicker with that-it works pretty well on the lumix gh4

I usually frame it a bit wider so i can see the edges of the film and adjust the height and sides if needed then just crop in post- if client wants it in widescreen i just put a black mask over the sides to hide any edges
