Re: 10mm Switar lens element swapping?

I’m assuming that when you are suggesting swapping front elements, you have the ability to take the lenses apart. If so, I would try cleaning the hazy optics first. In some cases, a simple wipe with a lens cleaning fluid will remove haze.

Re: Were regular 8mm film synchronizers ever made?

I am sure they were made for Standard/Regular 8. The name Craven comes to mind, and Synchrodeck? The problem I think is lack of demand for the less obvious movie making accessories. People who have them might feel that they are now of no value, not realising that there are people who can use them. A...

Re: Long term storage of processed film

There is a Kodak publication called ‘The Book of Film Care’ by Paul Gordon. It is out of print, but you might find a used copy. It should give you some advice about long term storage.

Re: Leicina 8s meter

Hi. Just back on the film scene after a few years, and noticed this post from Ed Wood. Many thanks. I have been using a Nikkorex 8F since then, but will dig out the Leicinas to give them a try. I have found that two of the hearing aid batteries, taped together, and with a spacer (tinfoil ball) betwe...

Cross-processing might be a route to the pastel look.

If you are close to a repairer, why don’t you ask them about likely costs? If they know the camera, they’ll know the common faults.

Canon 814 super8 - Battery Corrosion - doesn't work. Repair $ cost?

Hi. I’m not an expert, but I have bought a non-working 814 thinking I would fix it. It cost nothing like $129. More like $25. Anyway, I couldn’t get it to run. I did discover, however, quite a lot of useful information including how to strip it down, simply by a google search. There seems to be plen...

Re: Super 8 microphone

It looks similar to the type of mic that came with some Super8 cameras. I hope it works for your equipment.

Re: Super 8 microphone

I’m not an electronics expert, but I think you need to use a microphone that matches the type of input on the equipment. Both machines are now quite old, and I’m sure would be designed to use mics of a fairly simple type. Have a look at the manuals for editor and projector. They should give the impe...

Re: Fujica P300... what voltage please ?

I would try the 675 type which is closer in voltage to the original. You will need to pack the compartment with rolled up tin foil to make up the extra bulk.

Re: Fujica P300... what voltage please ?

It looks like it used a mercury H-D cell which gives 1.35 V. I don’t have this camera, but have replaced these cells with the 1.4V hearing aid battery. The big one, known as 675A in the UK works well, and is cheap. Life is shorter than mercury, but longer than the two weeks I expected. Worth a try i...

Re: Super 8 camera accessories

Some cameras have a single frame function. The mechanism depends on the camera, and may need a cable or remote release to operate. The manual for your camera will tell you if it is possible. I don’t know which model you have, but if it does 1 fps, it may well also do single frame. Alex Sent from my ...

Re: Professional Standard 8 editor viewer

I have the Minette S4. It is Super8/Single8, but not Standard/Regular8. I have the catalogue. Models S1, S4 and S5 are all described as Super8. Model S5 600 can take 600ft reels. At the same time, they offered two ‘Professional ‘ models, P16 and P16 Color. The only Standard/Regular8 device was a set...
