Re: A few new experimental films

I've made a number of films featuring water (as for the Déjà vu, as I definitely shot this about 4 weeks ago) Unlimitless: https://youtu.be/UhiCj4dvXTA Hornhautverkrümmung: https://youtu.be/bzqH3nc9xX4 I am endlessly fascinated by the satellites of Saturn and Jupiter. Io, Europa, Enceladus,...

Re: What's the finest grained film of all time?

back when I used to do B&W darkroom photography I used to use Tech Pan film. Technical Pan film was originally developed for astronomical purposes (high contrast ASA 16 or 25), and when processed with technidol (its own specialized developer) it was the tightest grained film that I ever had the ...

Re: A few new experimental films

This new film was shot as part of a 50ft Super 8 challenge (shooting a single cartridge of Super8 with only in-camera editing) for a 50th B-day party for the format at the NW Film Center. Kodak provided the film, LightPress provided the telecine. Processed at Spectra Film & Video. https://youtu....

Re: A few new experimental films

I feel a plot-synopsis won't really do justice to the film I hope to make, but here goes. The film takes place in a charred post-apocalyptic landscape with a poisoned atmosphere (I'm planning on some bleach-bypass work for these sequences), the main character scavenging for survival. His wandering l...

Re: A few new experimental films

thanks for the encouragement... Spatial definitely took awhile (I got pretty impatient towards the end), but I am really happy with the trippy R/G/B color results (this was, in many ways, a test for a special sequence for an upcoming film). I really like making slower-paced films (my favorite filmma...

Re: A few new experimental films

Just thought that I'd share the completed version of Spatial (now with a mind-melting color ending shot on Ektachrome 100D w/RGB filters)

Re: Super 8 50th Birthday

Hi all, just thought I'd post another Super8 50th birthday event. the NW Film Center in Portland, Oregon, will be throwing a 50th b-day party for Super8 on June 12th. The party will center around a 50ft challenge, with local film-makers, artists, writers, musicians (etc.), invited to shoot and prese...

A few new experimental films

I thought I would post a few "new" experimental films that I have recently just transferred to HD Solaristics: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sBn4z2OXTEI a multi-exposure 16mm experiment I conducted a few years ago featuring R/G/B light-bulbs (to experiment with additive color effects). s...

Re: 24 FPS VS 18 FPS

Thanks for the info! I've been watching those Fairchild projectors on Ebay, but I don't quite have the funds to pick one up (at least a working one).
I've been meaning to try out Frame Discrete's new 5K scanner for some of my personal work, maybe I'll send it all in together one of these days

Re: 24 FPS VS 18 FPS

Magnetic striped Regular 8mm? Whoa. Are the A & B R8 magnetic stripes the same dimensions as Super 8? My 1964 Fairchild 900 records to magnetic stripes but I am unsure of the specs. I recently got it working with a 12v NmH power supply. Is the Weberling method completed in the dark? Do you have...

here's a new edit: http://youtu.be/UhiCj4dvXTA
I mostly just extended or trimmed a few shots, and did just a touch of color-correction on one specific shot

Re: New-Age Super 8 film/music video

It's more that it didn't weigh down the tripod enough, so any movement (footsteps) on the dock (most of the water footage was shot from a dock) just transferred up the sticks, also just triggering the camera added some bumps as well. I cut out most of the jostling/jumps, but they're still visible in...

Re: New-Age Super 8 film/music video

yeah, I sent the film over to Cinelab with a LaCie Rugged drive. Alphacine used to be my lab of choice, but since then the NW Film Center decided to go with Cinelab due to their good student rates. I like the 6008s, but it being made of plastic made it too light, and really sensitive to vibrations. ...
