I used to do sync sound with S8 in digital form, which still proved difficult due to the camera drift. The only real bet for S8 sound is the new Kodak camera coming out maybe next month, and more in the fall. Crystal sync audio and on board SD recording. I wouldn't waste my time or money on any cumbersome alternatives at this point.
Problem is, I want to project film. The expensive way to do it would be to transfer picture to digital intermediate, edit using an NLE, then record back to film, 16mm blow up.

This is bulky but it is 16mm sound on film but maybe magnetic. I had optical. The seller has other cameras. I always thought optical sound on film, variable area type, not variable density, was so cool. I could even develop it.

Do note that the auricon in the eBay link doesn't have an amp for the optical sound. That amp is for magnetic striped film
