You can do it yourself.

Disassemble the old battery--this is by far the hardest part, you will need some sort of spanner tool.

If you have the 250mAh version of the dead battery you can recell with six 2/3 size AAA NiMh, the 1000mAh can be recelled with full size AAA.

Connect all cells in serial and tap out 3.6v for the middle ring contact, the 7.2 v is for the inner ring, the outmost ring is negative.

Search the site for some of Pedro's old diagrams, I know they are here somewhere.

Your old chargers will charge the NiMh just fine. The 2/3 size AAA provide about 350mAh, much better than the original.

When using NiMh you need a heat protector built into the batteryholder. Adaptive chargers may fry the internal current limiting resistor inside of the camera. Better stick with original 30mA chargers when charging in camera or the external holder.
Kind regards,

André

Thank you to all!
I could not do it alone, I'm no expert.
I saw the canadian advert on eBay, I had put aside for cost of shipping.

Still on the thread, for don'topen a new thread: the release cable for single frame should be particular or I can also fit a type for a H8 Bolex or a Krasnogorsk 3 (that I have already)?
Or one of those modern in sale for the modern cameras?
Thank you!

My battery has gone on my Beaulieu 4008 , Was looking at this one on ebay / thing is you got shipping then import tax on top EU ?
Was thinking maybe geting the one from Wittner films , Works out to be just that much more but would solve the battery problem for good .
Still its not cheap .

Help me with these questions? For not open another thread, the questions are easy, I think.

1) As I said above: the release cable of 4008 ZM II for single frame should be particular or I can also fit a type for a H8 Bolex or a Krasnogorsk 3 (that I have already)?
Or one of those modern in sale for the modern cameras?

2) 4008 ZM II have remote control socket: I can use a cassette recorder connected, to start simultaneous film and the magnetic tape cassette? It's something I do on Fujica ZC1000 (with a Fujica cable, unfortunately incompatible with Beaulieu, has another connector), of course, without pretense of synchronic, but for comfort of simultaneous start.
