Count me in...!

Post by namke » Mon Aug 29, 2005 12:10 pm

Well, I'm certainly up for it too - I'll be able to submit liberty at least (just need to add titles/credits) - I'll also be working on another film or two before the end of the year, so perhaps those can be submitted too.

Cool stuff :)

Yeah I'm in - I've just been reworking Sleeping On Her Couch so will enter that - it's 16mm with one Super 8 shot in it.

Big question though if you're going off DVD's how are you going to handle the PAL/NTSC issue? - perhaps the easiest way would be to project from PC's rather than DVD players.

Let us know where/when the entry forms are!!

Cinematexas

Post by avram_dodson » Fri Sep 02, 2005 7:06 pm

At Cinematexas (http://www.cinematexas.org) we loves us some 8mm (I'm director of guest relations this year). Too late to enter this year, but there's always next. Also, there is Flicker film fest at various locations throughout the U.S. of A.

I've just started looking into 8mm stuff for myself, and have been squadering numerous hours reading up on it. I'd love to shoot some of the Cinematexas proceedings and Reed Sturtevant recommended that i get in touch with fellow Austinite, Chris Cortez, through this site. Maybe borrow (or rent) a camera. So if you're listening with your eyes, Chris, holla.

which, if the projector has a dvi or at least vga input, will also give you the best image quality. as long as interlaced movies are handled properly of course. apple's dvd player does, as well as vlc, don't know about windvd et al. otherwise it's just a matter of using a dvd player that's dual standard = all pal ones.

Count me in

Just for the record, I'm in, too. I've got a short I finished last year to submit and possibly another soon. This is a great idea.

In the interest of making easier on those who want to submit a film, just what is the deadline?

okay, sorry for the long delay. we want to make sure all the t's are crossed (so to speak) before we put out the call for submissions. while i can't say, exactly when the deadline will be... i'm am pretty sure that it probably will be sometime in june of '06, with the initial festival taking place next fall.
stay tuned...
i'm pushing to get all the rules and regulations up by the end of this month.
All that is, is light.

Hi there,
Ricahrd here in Australia. I have only just followed this feed, but I have a number of films I would like to send over for a festival in December. I could send a DVD (pal) only. I assume that would be alright.
