Re: Bauer sound projector question for the gang...

I've looked at the manual and it says nothing about the shutter blades, which is odd. I can't find anything about them.

Re: Customer review: Universal 2K

More information from Bob: A review of the new UltraLite retrofit kit for my RetroScan Universal. I received my new UltraLite kit, installed it and took it for a spin. Removal of the original light source was a breeze and installation of the new one was simple. It popped into the hole in the base an...

Customer review: Universal 2K

This is from Bob Nichols with pingpongmedia.com out of Arizona: I installed my new 2K camera with the UltraLite and the new LEDs in the perforation hole sensor block. In addition to "Grandma's" movies, I do a lot of high-end work for archives, film makers and museums. So, I'm really, REALLY picky ab...

Bauer sound projector question for the gang...

I was looking at a photo of a Bauer sound projector that had two sets of shutter blades. It was essentially a standard 3 bladed shutter but there was a second set of blades, slightly smaller in width, situated behind the first set. I am only surmising but I think what happens is that when the unit i...

Re: Transferring 16mm Prints

I'm not an attorney but I will tell you what I understand the law to be here in the USA. In short, if you don't own the copyright, then you aren't allowed to copy it. The fact that the films are old doesn't necessarily mean anything. In fact, one of the problems facing restoration of some "classic" ...

Re: Universal now offering 2K and Audio modules!

Your new products looks really great, Roger. One question: You say about the new UV emitters: "This makes dialing in the sensor levels for clear edge film or film with clear patches (like R8) much easier." Does this mean that it is possible to find a sensor level that is OK for all types of film? I...

Re: New Universal 2K software release at last!

Just uploaded an update for the new 2K Universal software. Noticed as couple of important bugs that needed to be addressed so we fixed 'em! Also new set of PDF instructions to go along with the fixes.

Wow. We're okay but it's really, really bad, guys. Here's a link with photos just so you get an idea of what everyone is currently dealing with down here. https://www.buzzfeed.com/katebubacz/17-photos-show-just-how-bad-the-flooding-in-houston-really?bffbmain&ref=bffbmain&utm_term=.liz5zdEKeP#.vaL4O7...

MovieStuff surviving Hurricane Harvey!

Just a general note that we are high and dry in Texas, despite Hurricane Harvey's attempts to drowned half the state. However, many of our vendors as well as freight companies like UPS and Fedex are experiencing interruptions of service in our area due to the storm which seems like will never end. A...

Re: Universal now offering 2K and Audio modules!

Since the machine does slides, could it do 100 foot rolls of 35mm film? Hand cranked 35mm film cameras seem to be popular. I know I want one of the old ones that hold 100 ft rolls. Eyemo. We have a back burner project of building a 35mm cine gate but it's admittedly a slow process because it has to...

Re: Universal now offering 2K and Audio modules!

Sounds good, I sent an email for the sensor upgrade. I might wait until i secure a new camera before I order the upgrade, but it's in the plan. Doesn't sound like I'll need to build a faster PC, so that helps. Yeah, the I/O improvements on the upcoming software release are immense. You can capture ...

Re: Universal now offering 2K and Audio modules!

This new upgrade is free to all Universal software owners that already have the RetroScan Universal software. The new upgrade will work with both the original HD camera as well as the new 2K camera. Thanks Roger. Very welcome news on the software. Been waiting for that software upgrade. It just occ...

Re: Universal now offering 2K and Audio modules!

Are we to assume that the software for the 2K is all in the way of updated software for now? The new 2K upgrade for the software will be out within the week. The software is actually finished but I am in the process of completely rewriting the instructions because so many changes and additions and ...

Re: Universal now offering 2K and Audio modules!

Eesh, been anticipating the 2K upgrade, but the need for added components puts the total cost at $1400. Cuts too far into my budget for new camera and film. The new 2K camera has a larger sensor. This means a longer extension tube which, in turn, increases the bellows factor which, in turn, means y...
