Re: New Kodak Super 8 Camera Preview

With any luck Ferrania will get their E6 colour reversal film on the market before the end of 2016.

More cameras = more film sold = more fun for all of us....from the enthusiasts to the pros.

Re: Kodak awakens, new S8 camera announced at CES '16

Kodak seem to have confirmed that the camera will take any ordinary super 8 cartridge so this camera could be used with the new Ferrania film, or stuff from suppliers such as Kahl.....or "new old stock". Kodak seem to be going for a system where budding film makers buy negative film, shoot it, send ...

They also need to have everything safety inspected and accredited by the Italian government - an organisation which I am sure will be scrupulously honest and fair.....

Nevertheless, the fact that the reborn Ferrania should bring some jobs to the area will ensure that eventually they'll get started.

Re: Ferrania hope to start film manufacture in 2014

Just want to add my support to Film Ferrania. I will be buying super 8 films from them once they get production going. I know how it's so easy to hit "snags" and for a perfectly feasible timeline to be extended by months. It's a shame, but it happens. What we do not need is people spreading speculat...

Re: 100 d kodak on ebay ?

The Adox super 8 B&W film is cheaper than tri-x.

All we can do is support Ferrania in whatever way each of us can and hope that their product is worthy, and cheaper than the competition. That's their aim.

Re: 100 d kodak on ebay ?

Ferrania haven't said much about likely cost of the film, other than that they will try to keep the price down. The best I can remember is a fairly vague comment about it being cheaper than what's available now. I am assuming they were referring to eBay NOS 100D and the colour reversal stocks reslit...

Re: 100 d kodak on ebay ?

Everyone who donated should get news updates. They are behind schedule due to the discovery of large quantities of asbestos that had to be removed from the fabric of their factory building, and power supply issues. It's hardly surprising that they've hit problems, most large projects do. They issue ...

Re: 100 d kodak on ebay ?

Sadly it's supply and demand. 100D is not in production any more, and a small but tangible number of people want it. It's the same in the world of cassette tape. No hi-fi quality tape is in production any more and the prices for fresh chrome and metal cassettes are insane. If Ferrania get their prod...

Re: Preserving E6 chemicals

I work in laboratories, albeit school labs rather than industrial.....but we certainly have no way of opening a sealed chemical bottle without letting air in. Most chemicals we get in as powders or concentrated solutions with relatively long shelf life and we make up solutions as necessary which wil...

Re: Ferrania news?

I think everyone needs to understand that this is not a "turnkey" operation. There will be snags. There will be hurdles. Hopefully all these will be overcome.

It comes as no surprise to me that there are delays, most major operations like this take years to reach fruition.

Re: new digital camera better than 35mm film?!

Remember: Nothing is forever. :ymsigh: Anyone carrying a flag for analogue video? ;) Anyone carrying a flag for tape? ;;) I actually have a nice Canon digital tape camcorder. While 576 is not quite as good as 720 on our domestic TV there is very little difference. I am thinking of using this Canon ...

Re: ferrania store is now open

Don't underestimate how long the road is to film production for Ferrania. This isn't a turnkey operation they need to move several huge machines into their building, get them going again, finalise the formulae and so on.....it is quite something that they can do this at all. But it's great that seve...

Re: ferrania store is now open

They update the news at about once a month, "Dispatches From The LRF" I got my postcard for contributing to the Kickstarter fund, not in time for Christmas but in early January. I am sure they're working hard to get the machinery in working order and then to run off the first batch of films for the ...

Re: Safety when using Foma R100 kit

I believe Kodak D19 was discontinued a few years ago. I was pretty pee'd off about it.

D76 is still available or you could try Ilford ID11. Either will work for B&W reversal but won't look the same as D19.

Re: Safety when using Foma R100 kit

I've been dealing with potassium dichromate powder and solution professionally for 15 years and I just use gloves. It's quite nasty but if handled carefully poses less of a threat than mixing two household cleaners in your toilet. But it's a moot point as you can't get it unless you're a laboratory ...
