Mini disc - good for field sound recording?

I havn't ever used a mini disc redorder, but they are really cheap now on ebay. I have been using a dat on loan off and on with great results, but its owner (it used to be 50/50 but I sold my share back to the other guy when I was at university!!) likes to keep hold of it and only lets it out in sho...

The 'no jitter' claim is not always true. I find that Foma shot faster than 18fps jitters terribly. At 36 it is often useless. I heard on the forum somewhere that Foma don't lubricate their stock in manufacture. I intend at some point to try lubricating some R100 before shooting to see if that helps.

I had 10 rolls sent out to Australia about 6 months ago and found that they were useless. On developing, there was virtually no image at all. The emulstion had just had it. I too was hoping for an old look - like an orthochromatic stock. There was nothing there however. Possibly their age ment they ...

The stock that John Schwind now has instead of Foma is the ORWO UN54. It is the same stock as Kahl film sell in DS8 as Kahl24. It is also the same stock as the B/W single8 loads called 'RETRO x' or such like. I am waiting and waiting for Wittner to get fuji VELVIA in DS8. This will happen. :D But ha...

By Pixilation, I just mean that I shot the film mostly 1 frame at a time. This animation makes for beautiful (I think) effects. I am now just trying to decide what sort of transfer will give me a result closest to projection. The issue for me is the creation/duplicaton of frames. I need a PAL 25fps ...

Telecine/print of my new film: excited questions!

Wow! :D Just finished editing a new super8 film. I am over the moon with excitement at the moment. I think it is the best film I have ever made! Its 14min k40 and a little foma r100. Its called 'Twisty'. I shot it about 10 months ago then put it down to work on other things (I seem to have half a do...

The book without the picture on the cover is about the DS8 back. The chunky hand grip I think came with the DS8 back to help with the greatly increased weight. The Ds8 backs on these cameras are great. It is the cameras themselves that are often an issue nowdays. I had a lovely DS8 back, but could n...

What do you think about this as the logo?

Your map has no TASMANIA on it! Australia just doesn't look right without the little island on the south east corner - Its like an exclamation without a point!

I have heard that polyester stock is harder to perforate and would pose a real difficulty for a reperfing set up. Just my 2cents worth.

John Schwind no longer stocks the Foma. but he does stock ORWO UN54 in Ds8 - this is 200asa as reversal, 100 as neg B/W. Shortly (!?) Wittner will be selling Fuji Verlvia in DS8!!!!!
Foma is also still available from Chambless.

I have a copy in German which is no doubt what you want. I don't have a scanner myself, but I am going to Melbourne on the weekend and can use a scanner there. If you find one in the meantime, let me know. Otherwise I will do the scan on Saturday.
Cheers,
Richard

Does your camera not have a manual apeture control? If it does, you can take a TTL reading on auto, then add 2/3 stop to the exposure. Its very quick and easy (depending on the set up of your camera).

[quote="cubdukat"] And if it turns out that it's 160 tungsten, can I trick the camera into overexposing 2/3 stop by putting a .2 (?) ND filter on it, or would engaging the daylight filter (if possible) accomplish the same thing? quote] No. But if your camera can read 100d and has a filter notch read...

This is great news! The first issue was a real thrill. Its a different kind of mag to Super8 Today and they are both great and complementary.
