another super 8 format?

Sony also put out the minidisc camcorder (DCM-M1) that offers onboard NLE - I plan to put a little page together on it. In principle, it is the closest thing to a super 8mm camera made by the big guns. Only 10 minutes per disk, Sony got this one right. Too bad they discontinued the idea immediately ...

yep...

I agree - I am partial to the Canon sound models and am jealous of the guys who have Nizo's!! Just arrived from ebay today a Canon 310AFXLS - that's autofocus - I thought it would be cheesy but I am super impressed. Focuses faster than my miniDV for crying out loud!! And that's before filming begins...

request...

Since this is such incredibly excellent material, I was wondering if it would be alright to copy the code/text/pictures and post it on my website on my nautica page - I'll give credit if desired, no problem. Just a thought. No worries either way - let me know.

Cheers,
Michael

lucky so far...

I have been lucky so far I guess. I have toyed with the idea of getting a "German" Nizo but now that I found this forum, I would only buy from an existing member...seems risky on ebay. In my ebay travels though, I remember a guy in Switzerland named TROUVAILLES that sells excellent equipment (that g...

Often, the O with a line through it simply indicates the exact location of the film plane...just a thought.

maybe

only if you plan to shoot regular 8mm (it won't work with super 8mm). Otherwise, just get a dual 8mm editor, easier to use in the long run.

Good luck.

did super8guy grow up to be super8man or is it i had it wrong from the begining? Well, at the bottom of my original super8filmaker pages I made a picture of me with the script copted from a super 8mm movie brochure (amazing people now buy whole movies compared to when they only bought 10 or 20 minu...

strange...

Is it due to the "target new window" settings I have scattered through the site when you click a link?? Oh well, my naming convention for the pages is straightforward enough. People will figure it out.

27 pages + the regular 8 side of things. Phew.

I'll tackle this very slightly...

The refresh rate of the TV monitor will determine the flicker when compared to the super 8 film speed you use. One way to actually see what the camera sees is this: Check what speeds of film rate (frames per second) your camera offers (9, 18, 24, 36, etc). Set to say 18fps. Next, find a small mirror...

Many thanks for the good words. Others wrote to suggest I do a forum and chat board but it is so nice to see this site with a TONNE of readers/users. WOW! Now I have to redo my links page to add this site to it! I love this site! Hopefully, the major super 8 sites compliment each other (though I am ...

awesome...

Glad to hear it - I became reinspired again after a little bit of a hiatus in the 35mm world of still images. After finding a few new pieces of gear on the net and shooting some more film, I got the bug again! It;s nice to see some of the auction prices down a bit from the stratosphere of the late 1...

one possible source

Check out Pardeescameras.com and send them an email - they are kind of erractic in their reponses (if they respond) but it is worth a try. They are an old fashioned camera store in Sacramento. By the way, you will get better response if you call them directly. Ask for Manfred or Marc, no one else wi...
