Re: How can i respool CINE X-100 cartridge on a spare spool

Ditto. What he said... The film for your camera is "Regular 8" AKA (also known as) "Double 8" and Standard 8. The film is actually sort of 16mm film stock, with twice the sprocket holes specially perforated then loaded onto a 16mm wide spool. It runs through the camera twice. First you shoot half of...

I had a clip somewhere showing how to load film into a Quartz M, but all I could find was my padawan using it...

Re: Editing software: any clear front-runner?

I use Apple Quick Time Pro Verson 7, (not Version 10), then Apple iMovie. I do mainly cut and paste, fade in and outs, transitions from and to black, audio mixes, volume ups and downs, titles, and import / exports to various formats. Other times it's Adobe Flash, with occasional filmstrips in Photos...

That's really amazing, brand new refurbished Bolex 160... I've got a few of them cams, I'm gonna save up to get them serviced... I love the metal fungus trails on the chrome handle.. what are those marks from?

Re: clearing out the extras....

I'm interested in the the camera, specifically the battery holder... I've got a R10 but missing the battery holder. I had to construct one using polymorph and an external battery pack of AA's.... :|

Re: Hand processing Super 8 Tri-X, any info?

I've attended Super 8 processing workshops in London at No-w-here http://www.no-w-here.org.uk/index.php?cat=3&subcat=main . We did colour neg films. I've home processed that out of date Russian B&W Reversal film "Quartzchrome" in a Lomo tank. Developed it as negative in Ilford chemistry. Then I home...

I can see the pix using Safari, but not in Firefox... Fred you have great technique with this Super 8 imaging! ...but methinks maybe your A tags in html code needs tweeking the back slashes into forward slashes... 8O <A HREF="s8_frames\1958_expo\index.html"><IMG SRC="s8_frames\1958_expo\thumbnails\e...

Re: Digital sound for film?

I'll bite. I suppose it depends on your 1) story, script or communication goal, as well as 2) your distribution medium. Both are non technical in the conceptual stage, but then technology may be necessary to implement the idea onto the media. I say maybe because the AV can be split easy enough by us...

Re: Battery Powered Light for Super 8 Camera?

Oh, I forgot about using a battery belt with a 6V Quartz or Halogen Hot Lights. To me a battery belt and external lamp is a bit too much of a hassle for Super 8, too heavy and another thing to prepare, lug around, and possibly forget after the shoot. If I can find my lamp and other battery belt, I'l...

Re: Battery Powered Light for Super 8 Camera?

I've used LED bicycle lights. Tie three together onto a plastic ruler, maybe add a diffuser or reflector. Gaffer tape that thing onto your camera. Tape that Beaulieu 4008z onto the mountain bike handle bars to film the niterider. The local .99p shops sell super cheap LED lamps that use two AAA batte...

Re: Interesting CBC article on HD film transfer

The average current new generation are happy with hand held, shaky, blurred, low res mobile phone, and usb flip cams memory card type toy cameras. Eventually they bore of the rush from their automatic uploaded clips formatted into 320x240 12fps onto youtube for playback on hand-helds, net-books and ...

Re: sound recording

I lack the motivation, film stock, and know how to test my super 8 sound cameras, so Super 8 sound is out ATM. I would use mixed media, say use a Super 8 camera to film the interview as the B camera for outtakes and continuity, and the talking head bit with a camcorder, my A camera for sound sync. I...
