Re: New Kodak Super 8 Camera Preview

The results obtained from live sound recording with Super 8 cameras were not always high quality or particularly easy to use when the film itself had to be edited. But how convenient it would be today, for those who project film, to have professional stripe already fixed to the film for post-recordi...

Re: New Kodak Super 8 Camera Preview

I would agree about sound cartridges - they are sorely missed. I remember when Kodak discontinued them, I naively supposed that I could simply start using Fuji single 8 sound cartridges, only to find when I turned up at Lee's Cameras in Holborn to purchase some that Fuji had made the same decision a...

Re: New Nikon R10 owner with some questions..

That's absolutely right to put the camera on rewind - to see if the camera is "waiting " to be rewound. The fade and dissolve controls are all linked to the motor. If the camera "thinks" that some stage has not been completed, the motor will not work. Particularly, if the camera works on single fram...

Re: Nikon R10 power zoom non-functional

Several years ago I had a Nikon R10 that was in superb cosmetic and functional condition, save that the power zoom did not work. I think the power zoom motor ran, but sounded very rough. I understand from Click & Surr in Berlin that the power zoom of the R10 is unusual in that the motor can be run b...

Re: New Kodak Super 8 Camera Preview

In my experience Super 8 cameras are more ergonomic than Regular 8 cameras. They have brighter viewfinders, they are easier to focus, have reliable auto exposure and the cartridge format is much easier to load and use. If you are projecting reversal film, the projectors are of a higher specification...

Re: Anyone here own a Leicina Special?...

I think there were a number of posts in the past on this forum by Santo arguing that the construction of the Leicina gate was such that minimal friction would affect the film passing through the gate thereby reducing the risk of any judder.

Re: Horizontal flashes on film

Definitely not a light leak in the camera because it doesn't appear on colour film shot in the same camera.

Re: Horizontal flashes on film

The problem does not arise in the camera, because I have the same problem with different cameras.

Horizontal flashes on film

I am developing black and white film in the Lomo tank with the Foma reversal kit. Recently, I have noticed random white flashes when the film is projected. These are not tramlines along the length of the film, but odd frames which have a narrow horizontal flash of white light. They can be detected b...

Re: Has this happened to you?

My experiences are not the same. I was filming in the entrance to an underground station and was asked by a "security" person to stop filming. I was bugged by a helicopter once when filming in the vicinity of Hammersmith bridge. I filmed a postman making a delivery - I was about 25 yards from him - ...

Re: Canon 310XL w 50D color negative film

Hi Vision 50D is a daylight film, so you are best to film in daylight. Look for a little retractable pin in the camera cartridge chamber below the picture gate. The absence of a notch (or cut-out) in the front of the cartridge again below the picture gate should mean that the pin is automatically pu...
