Bolex RX to plain old c

I have been reading some of the old posts about C mounts on bolex RX cameras, and how they don't work, with out reculmination and a spacer. I was wondering if just a spacer would work, just for fooling around, and how many MM it would have to be . It would be easy to machine one up. It would blow th...

Re: eumig nautica/Aspheric Lens

Cool I've been reading about the PMA's on the web, and am starting to get a better understanding of the little animal. I love up close sports cinematography, and the PMA sounds like It is something I still want. My other WD converters won't work, because the size interferes with the view of the Elec...

Re: eumig nautica

Thanks for the response Patrick. I was hoping to use it for some in water surfing shots next week- Do you think that it will work in permanent macro mode? ( based on Mikes footage, I would guess yes, but I don't like wasting film :D ) Thanks again for the post

Re: eumig nautica

Mike, as always, thanks, you're a life saver. Jorg ( sorry I can't figure out how to do an umalaut) Thanks for the clues for my scavenger hunt. ( At least now the hunt isn't so desperate) Andrew PS. Although there are no more Nauticas, the place had around 8 brand new Sankyo XL 800 S, as well as a c...

Re: eumig nautica

I have done some intensive snooping around the net, and my suspicions are correct: the lens is necessary to take it under water. Now I am officially ion the market for a PMA lens, apparently they are very rare to find on their own. ( If some one has one please PM me!) This leads to the next possible...

eumig nautica

Hi everyone, I just scored a brand new eumig nuatica from my local camera store- new dead stock, still in the box. I have wanted one ever since reading Super8man's site. Ive got two problems, though- the first is that the zoom is really stiff, Im sure from sitting on the shelf for 30 years. The seco...

Re: My new experimental film shot w/ Leicina Special + ST1

Very cool. It makes for an interesting study of cinematic beats, with the semi- regular movement of the street lights with the more predictable vibration from the bike. The leans during the turns, as were as the random elements. It reminds me of Norman Maclaren's work. It would be interesting to see...

Re: Why AviSynth?

Thanks Again Carl, yup, I am sure that anyone who has read this far into this thread is a fan of Freds work. Thanks for the tip on going to the Avisynth sight. I've started "bootstrapping " my way through it, to get some answers. many of the concepts are familiar to me, and it seems some what demist...

Re: Why AviSynth?

Thanks for the quick and to the point Answer. I suspected that this tool is not a replacement for an NLE, but more like a filter in your work flow. Small gauge film making has it's own special problems that it doesn't share with digital, or pin registered big gauge formats. Because of this, and the ...

Why AviSynth?

I was having a discussion with a friend who just got a workprinter. I told him about the stuff I had seen on this sight about Avisynth, and How great the results looked. I must confess that I know about as much about computer programing and software as a chimp knows about the space shuttle. Our conv...

Re: What ND filter for Canon 814XLS and E100D?

If you are using the camera's meter, and not hand metering, you could consider getting a variable ND ( or if you have two old linear polarizers, you can make your own) I think that they cover about 11 stops. ( you have to be careful about cromatic aberations, but the are fast for "run and gun" Cheer...

Re: help with canon 514XLS

If it were me, I would strip down the one that doesn't run, and see if there is some way of adjusting the meter, and poke around with a voltage meter to see if you can find were the problem is. Chances are, you won't find it, and the camera will end up in the bin, but you won't have lost anything, a...

Reasonable Price for TC-20 and elmo st800?

Hi all, I am going to sell my Goko TC-20 and an Elmo st800 on my local craigs list, to help pay for some new (to me) 16mm film gear. I had a look at e-bay, and the prices were all over the place. ( the tc-20 from $400-1000, and the elmo for $100-350) I got great deals on the stuff, but had to do a l...
