Re: Did Ilford Photo (UK) ever make super 8 film?

With regards repackaging 35mm film into Super 8 cartridges, Pro8mm are "at this time, are not offering this service."

Just an idea!!!

Re: Did Ilford Photo (UK) ever make super 8 film?

Technically you could or can still - you have to contact them - let PRO8MM split and perf 35mm Ilford XP2 into about Kodak S8 Carts. I sent something like 400´ of Fuji F500T to them and got about 25 S8 carts back. if they still do this service you can get the XP2 in S8 carts. shoot...... Now tha...

Re: Did Ilford Photo (UK) ever make super 8 film?

Many thanks for the information posted above - very much appreciated...

Pity you can't get some of their current black and white stock in either Super 8 or 16mm. XP2 is an incredible film stock.

Did Ilford Photo (UK) ever make super 8 film?

As the Subject Header mentions, did Ilford Photo (UK) ever make super 8 film? I do have a Practical Photographer from September 1965, but doesn't Ilford - perhaps considering the format was only introduced early in the year...

Processing East 7291 25 years after being exposed!!!

Hello In the summer of 1986 I was able to secure 200ft (short end) of 16mm 7291 from the BBC in Leeds. I hired a Bolex H16 and filmed the 1986 RAF Finningley Airshow in Yorkshire. The film was never processed and I still have two x 100ft daylight spools. In all honesty the image quality will have de...

Does Walmart sell film too?

$7 is around £4.35, and [laughs] I've just realised I have a friend now living in Alaska.

Re: How could I possibly be outbid on eBay?

Hello Patrick There are plenty of fish in the sea and plenty more cameras on eBay! Don't worry!!! I bought a Canon 514XL in eBay for £1.99! There has never been a better time to buy a Super 8 camera, even if someone snipes you in that final second, and yes it has happened to me. I'm Still looking...

Re: Is DSLR the terminator for super 8 and 16mm?

Just because Super 8, 16mm and now 35mm camera kit has become affordable through the likes of eBay, doesn't mean that new owners of old kit have the same spending power as the studios. If I can afford to buy a decent Super 8 camera for a few pounds but cannot afford the film, It goes without saying ...

Re: Is DSLR the terminator for super 8 and 16mm?

Super 8 is now a by-product of 35mm (stills/motion) production. What will finally kill off Super 8 will be the end of 35mm. I would imagine that for every foot of Super 8 produced, thousands of feet of 35mm film are manufactured. Once Hollywood finally switches to all digital production then it will...

Re: Super 8 Tri-X Prices - Cheapest!!!

Both the Canon DS8 and Beaulieu cameras (that take the 60m magazine) are extremely rare and demand high prices - my last Super 8 camera Canon 514XL) cost me £1.99!!! Does anyone know of any other cameras (apart from the Beaulieu) that take 60m? I don't mind anyone making a profit, but the way Kod...

Re: Super 8 Tri-X Prices - Cheapest!!!

Hello nickrapak, can I ask how much you pay for your film stock? THINKS: Perhaps if Super 8 film was sold ONLY through Kodak then savings made could be passed on to us! I don't mind ordering direct from Kodak USA. Perhaps $5 per cassette would be more appealing to those considering shooting on Super...

Re: Super 8 Tri-X Prices - Cheapest!!!

I did contact Kodak (July 2009):

The list price for Tri-X Super 8 is £10.92 per roll plus VAT.
Large bulk orders (100+ rolls) may be given 10% discount depending on whether they were regular orders or not.

I suspect that mark-up is 50%, so why not sell us this film at wholesale prices!

Super 8 Tri-X Prices - Cheapest!!!

I understand that Kodak now only produce one Super 8 Black and White film, namely Tri-X. I was going to write about Kodak's ability to kill off the format by pricing Tri-X beyond the pockets of those who wish to sample Super 8 before it's finally killed off. Question: where is the cheapest retailer ...

How fresh or not is my film?

Hello A friend recently gave me three rolls of Kodak Tri-X (Super 8) 7278 (8S 1R 4227 EIB). On the side of the box is: 706/408 2076 Does anyone know what is the best before date? I understand that it's been kept in a fridge. Spent the last week trying to figure out what to do with it - a short three...
