Re: Ilford Colorcine 8mm film

For home movies the Ilfordcine was more than adequate, especially the 4 for 3 price and returned spliced onto a 200' reel. The films had to be placed in the box in a certain order to make sure they came back in sequence. Usually got it wrong. I seem to remember my Dad got a couple quite cheaply as I...

Re: Projector Belts

Tried making my own belts, but it was easier, and cheaper to get some off ebay. Basically rubber ring belts rather than the original vee belts, but they have worked on both the 607s I have. Pretty difficult to get them on. Not a lot of room. Thought I might have trouble getting new bulbs as Maplins ...

Re: Projector Belts

Tried eBay and found a few people offering the belts, Eumig 600 series and the old P8 I have too. So I thought i would give them a try. Basically rubber rings of the right size. Fitting on the P* is a doddle. Cannot say the same for the 607s, what a faff. Anyhow removing the lamp housing makes it ea...

Re: Projector Belts

Thanks for the link. The picture of the simple spring loaded alignment tool is just what I need. I reckon I could easily make one. It is pretty obvious how it works. I agree in that I usually use a piece of string to find the length. having the remains of the vee belt I thought would be easier. Evid...

Projector Belts

I thought it was about time that I sorted out my 8mm gear and films. Found a few surprising items including unused Kodachrome satandard and super 8. I thought I had managed to use it all up in the final days of Kodachrome, evidently not. It was the pair of Eumig 607 projectors. I have two the same a...

Caffenol Film reversal (coffee based developer!)

I stumbled across this link to a site where there is this article on reversing foma reversal film using coffee. I knew about caffenol from film processing but this is the first reference to using it as part of a reversal process. http://www.filmlabs.org/docs/citric-hydrogen-peroxide-bleach.pdf Rest ...

FOMA film and chemical direct

FOMA seem to have an on line shop for all their products. I do not know what delivery costs are but the prices, in Euros look good.

Re: Conversion negative in positive

I think all video editing software packages have invert as an option. Even those that do not cost anything. For video it creates a negative look but certainly works the other way.

Re: Kodak awakens, new S8 camera announced at CES '16

This is the article I mentioned. http://eandt.theiet.org/magazine/2015/12/celluloid-comeback.cfm I actually read it in the paper magazine but it looks the same. On the topic films and 'ks'. Living where I do in the north of England I have regular access to to the National Media Museum in Bradford. T...

Re: Kodak awakens, new S8 camera announced at CES '16

I missed this one having been away for a while. This morning though I was reading an article in a professional engineering magazine on the topic of digital versus film. Along with the better appearance of a filmed original there are evidently a few technical reasons for using film. On is that 35mm i...

Re: Could use a little more help processing films

It is a while since I processed a movie film but I still regularly process camera films. As far as I remember I dried the cine film outside on the washing line! I know what you mean about film dirt. You wash it for ages, hang it out ot dry and then you find all sorts on it. I suspect there is an ele...

Re: "Dailymotion" player ROCKS!

Reading this post I went back and checked my one and only upload to Dailymotion: link below (tent raising and lowering, speeded up) http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x12uiz7_pitching-a-queshua-tent_travel It is just a video off a digital tape camcorder so is not HD. Compared with YouTube It certainly...
