Re: Any tutorial on how to capture color negative with RetroScan-HD Universal?

Sounds like something Roger could do. There's a YouTube video on how to do everything else, there should be one for the RetroScan. Much easier than reading manuals. :)

On the contrary, I don't miss sound cartridges at all. Having sound striped on film is so 1970s. ;) Much better to use an external digital recorder today.
I miss them for how terribly bad they sounded. It was like a telephone recording. Uniquely horrendous.

Maybe I'll have a go at making a new gear. Wonder if anyone has had success with moulding a fine tooth gear?
This Canon camera is way to complicatedly (big word here) designed! These bloody engineers should stick to drawing rockets!
Seems like that might be a good project for a 3D printer...

My Kodak rep is looking into it.
I love that.
I makes me sound important. :)

He was as curious as me on this one though. I would expect it to be a $5,000 minimum or so. That's a lot of Double Super 8.

Re: The State of Double Super 8

My Kodak rep is looking into it. If the Super 8 manufacturing process is as described it will just boil down to how much they want to sell to overcome the "inconvenience factor" of pulling it early from the process and spooling down to 100' loads.

Re: The State of Double Super 8

Good to know they at least Spectra can split it...that was my main concern. For a laugh I'll check with my Kodak rep and see what they would need for a special order or if they even have the machines to perf that. Would be nice to have some 50D negative or the Ektachrome when it comes out. Any DS8 u...

The State of Double Super 8

I've seen Fomapan R100 B&W available in 100' rolls of Double Super 8, are there currently any other fresh stocks available?

Also, who is processing that stock in North America?

Hoping it's not completely dead yet...thanks for any insight!

They're missing a window here for summer...that's the best time for reversal film sales. Bet we're at least 9 months away still.

Re: Where can you buy positive 16mm color film?

16mm Ektachrome 100D is an amazing film, especially seen as it was meant too be...projected.

I still love Kodachrome more for it's "pastel-like" un-natural color and longevity, but Ektachrome is beautiful, sharp and has extremely accurate color rendition. Can't wait for the re-release.

Re: Tripod Talk

Biggest and heaviest comment was really for 16 and 35mm. Super 8 can do fine on a light weight tripod but you may need to invest in a remote shutter trigger so you don't have to touch the camera.

Re: Tripod Talk

Biggest and heaviest tripod you can find. Makes all the difference in the world. Although, Super 8 Footage is almost synonymous with crazy handheld camera movements...it's kinda what you expect and part of the charm. I've found that handing off cameras to kids to shoot events is great when coupled w...

Re: Beaulieu Service

Bernie is great, especially with any 16mm camera, but if you want your Beaulieu serviced, it really is worth the time and cost of sending it to Bjorn. Me made two of my 4008's better than new. I really mean that. I could tell a major difference in the actual sound of the motor running and the actual...

Re: Best setup for a Super 8 Sync Sound Production in 2018?

If you're talking actual SYNC, there is no currently working system out there for that...like the system Pro8mm invented back in the 70's. BUT, you can manually sync up Super 8 and audio pretty easily these days. Clapper is a great way, or just have someone stand in front of the camera and clap thei...

Re: Canon 814 super8 - Battery Corrosion - doesn't work. Repair $ cost?

I have a couple of those 814 Autozoom cameras. Built like tanks and heavy as one too. Good solid camera but limited on film speed options. it shoots in 24fps. which other speed is it lacking? I'm not gonna be doing any slow-mo shooting I believe it's 12, 24 & 36. Slow motion is fun with film. Beaul...
