Re: kodak

Kodak Alaris making Ektachrome just doesn't add up. Our friends at Ferrania have shown that manufacturing color reversal film is not a simple nor inexpensive matter. Producing color reversal on a commercial scale requires complex chemistry and equipment and the personnel to put it together. Where is...

Re: kodak

Google Kodak Alaris. The comments are not encouraging. Dissatisfied employees, layoffs, difficulty making payroll. I think Kodak shoveled off all the failing divisions and products to Alaris and said go for it boys and good luck.

Re: kodak

Naturally we associate the name Kodak with film. But in reality Kodak is a printer, printing and document company with a little real estate thrown in. So, to the decision makers at Kodak the printing company, film may be at the bottom of the list for any action. Regarding Hollywood's need for film, c...

Re: kodak

judging from the comment in the annual report about releasing the kodak name and symbol to the company making the S8 camera, Kodak is not making the camera. They have farmed that out. Actually while the camera is nice addition, there are many S8 cameras waiting for a good color reversal. The entire ...

Re: kodak

Kodak has raised the price of S8 TRI-X from $20.50 to $25.95. Bringing TRI-X price in line with other super 8 products. B&H has increased their price to be more in line Kodak's new price but not as high as the V3 products. Unfortunately Kodak does not give retail sellers much of discount that is why...

Re: kodak

Checking the Kodak 2016 annual report shows that the film division contributes less than 10% to Kodak revenues. Kodak is a commercial printing company not a film company and if big Hollywood studios had not agreed to support film I doubt there would be Kodak film. Only two companies make the bulk of...

kodak

Kodak stock has been dropping almost daily since they announced the first profitable quarter. Although making a profit, sales have been dropping that is why the stock is falling off the cliff. The stock has gone from over $30 to under $7. The market does not have faith that Kodak will be a viable co...

Re: Is Kodachrome still processed ANYWHERE in the world?

Gary is retired. His daughter was doing transfers only. For processing Ektachrome try either Dwayne's in Parson KS or Spectra Film and Video in North Hollywood

Re: Process EM-26

Your best bet is Martin Baumgarten in Plattsburgh New York. He was under Plattsburgh Photo. Don't get your hopes too high. Age fog has probably wiped out any image.

Re: Is Kodachrome still processed ANYWHERE in the world?

I believe there were several posts to this forum concerning a group in the Czech Republic that had successfully processed Kodachrome several years ago about the time Kodak discontinued processing. Search the forum and see what you can find. Their results looked decent. To my knowledge no one has pro...

Re: Super 8 Film Lab Suggestions

In Australia/NZ try NANO Lab. Not certain ANDEC in Berlin still processes S8. They may contract out Reversal Lab in NL. There is also a lab in France.

Re: Super 8 Film Lab Suggestions

In the USA there are several labs: Spectra Film and Video in North Hollywood, Cinelab in Boston area, Dwaynes(color only). There are probably more. Check Kodak website for more labs.

Re: Kodachrome K40 chemistry question

Ferrania can barely manage the black and white film they are selling let alone a complicated color process. In the "day" there were a number of color films using processes similar to Kodachrome. Seems like every country in the East had some film that was unique to that country. Maybe someone can dig...

Re: Wittner Cinetec

Wittner is still in business. They moved from the Hamburg area to So. Germany and must reorganize the shop and equipment. Apparently this is a bigger job than they realized. Remember when you are dealing with film you require a light tight dark area to do the work plus there are equipment issues whe...
