Re: Bolex H16 Rex prism

I really want to find a Filmo 70 focusing alignment gauge at a price that isn't outrageous.

Re: Bolex H16 Rex prism

You couldn't just remove the prism, You'd have to have a thinner front cover to bring the lenses closer to the film of course. Otherwise it would be way out of focus. But the whole front nose of a non reflex looks like it would fit a reflex. I've shot films with both reflex and non reflex cameras a...

Re: Bolex H16 Rex prism

Why would one want to remove the prism of an H16 reflex? This would change the lens registration to 20.76mm and nothing would focus properly. Also, if I recall correctly, depending upon the age of the reflex camera, you would have no benefits of having a Bolex. No reflex viewing and no variable shut...

Re: Bolex h16 camera rattling squeaky noise

After you find a tech to CLA your camera you'll know the answer, if any, to your first two questions.

Re: Summer Shooting Plans?

My girlfriend and I have been invited to sit in the back seat of a restored 1950s Dodge sedan during the July 4th parade here in Philly. We're going to shoot a few hundred feet of TriX or maybe XX EK5222 16mm through a Bell & Howell 70DR.

Re: R9 bleach

I don't want to discourage anyone's creativity but I DO want to stress safety. I have been in the position of being too eager before myself, years ago, and I learned from my mistakes. Cutting corners has led to a few completely botched jobs, minor property damage and me almost cutting my finger off....

I'm not even going to touch this other than generally discouraging it.
Just don't severely disable or kill yourself. Wear proper PPE which includes a respirator with the proper filtration.

Re: Adjusting caffenol developer recipe for 16mm tri-x 7266 film

Look up the Massive Development Chart online, find a classic emulsion (not a tabular grain film) and adjust time for what you rate the film at. If you shoot at stock speed, just adjust your ISO 100 developing time for your ISO 200 film.

Re: Best method for “bucket processing”?

As Nikonr10 said, have you done classical black and white developing before? If you have experience with hand processing black and white, you know how temperamental chemistry can be. I have over twenty years experience hand developing still black and white film and I wouldn't touch a bucket process ...

You're right on your student price for a cartridge of Super 8.

Re: Kodak prices

I estimate S8 TRI-X is student priced at about $21.00. I think it's a little more than that. Considering the cost of super 8 vs 16mm I have no interest in shooting the smaller format. I'll try to remember to check super 8 prices next time I order. What is interesting is that EK5222 (35mm) price rem...

Re: Kodak prices

I just had to create a new Kodak store account which wrapped the student store pricing in and I saw that the price of 16mm has gone up about 25%. As of just a month ago it was about $25/100ft of EK7222. Last night it was $31/100ft. So every 400 feet in now paying for the old price on 500 feet. Just ...

Re: Introduction and a Kodak 16mm magazine project

Well, I just saw the https://www.filmshooting.com/scripts/forum/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=28317 16mm Magazine thread over in the Small Gauge forum and I'm going to try that. I'm just thinking without the sprocket pulling the supply and controlling the feed to the takeup core, there could be a problem with...
