FILM FEATURES & CARTOONS ON SUPER 8

Post by DIEFTHINTIS »

I began to shoot on super 8 on 1975 with a Canon 518. I thought that the format had vanished. I still make movies, using the latest digital technology. Still, I have good memories from the golder super 8 years. I recently discovered that the format is alive. I bought from ebay a Bauer 715 and a T600 Projector, so - besides shooting on super 8, I am also looking for existing sound super 8 titles. I ordered a few from Derann, but I thing they are a bit expensive. I traced a source in USA (8mm16mmfilmscollectibles.com), but still I have the problem of taxes added to the final price. Do you Know any good supplier for Super 8 movies, cartoons etc in the European Community?

I've used Derann a few times to buy used films with satisfactory results. They publish a used film mailing list which goes out by e-mail. I'd like to add that their standards are scrupulous. I recently bought a C+ condition film from them which I thought was actually quite good.

Classic Home Cinema also sells both new and used films, if you E-mail them they'll send you their list as an attachment.

I would love to own the Derann feature length Super-8 "Toy Story"(One of the first things if I ever suddenly and unexpectedly become a Millionaire) For now, It's hard to justify the price when I have the VHS and a DVD would cost about 1/10th the price.

I saw one a few months ago lightly used on E-bay (US) it went past my walk away price so fast I didn't even get a bid in. So whoever you are out there that got it, someone envies you!!

What a great film, on a great format!
