Anamorphic lens focusing question

Post by Jess »

While looking on ebay I have noticed a lot of the Anamorphic lenses on there are designed to focus from something like 25-250ft as apposed to the 5-infinity of most taking lenses, does anyone have any experiances using these lenses for filming? Is it worth even bothering?

The lenses you have been looking at are probably mainly for projection purposes and 25ft minimum is around correct for projection purposes.Look out for more filming/projection type as they focus down to 10ft without difficulty.Naturally you will also have to set the backing lens (on your camera) to the same distance as the anamorpic attachment.
You can of course go ahead with the ones on offer, but their focussing limitations will soon become apparent.
