For practical reasons I sent 1 x prepaid K40 directly to Swizz this time and guessWatt!
It came back in less thaNaweek.
With funny "garbage" on the lope.
Fastest ever. When using the standard Kodak logistics 2-3 weeks is common.
Then all transport fees forth/back are included.
This directroute cost me abt €2 extra. No pay for express processing.
NÃ¥jaa,.. m-vel.

I did exactly the same thing with a prepaid from New York, and got it back with just a one week turnaround, about a month ago! Pretty good when you consider the distance. Unfortunately now they have discontinued the pre-paid version altogether in the usa, which is downright inconvenient, with alternatives being more expensive. I have sent numerous carts this way (to Lausanne), and never, ever have had to wait more than 2 weeks (usually less), to get them back to me here in NYC. It would be great if it was still available ...
bah, missleading topic title :P ... fastest i've ever had was two days (or three days depending on how you count - shipped off monday evening, arrived wednesday noon)
that was when i was still living in switzerland though, with express pay-up
I need to send off some K40 soon , and i need to have it done in about a week! I have never sent my film direct to switzerland before (I live in the UK, and always send it to the place in London that it tells me to send it to on the pre-paid mailer), but i would like to after hearing about this. One thing though; is this fullproof? I have to have mine done within 12 days max.
Also, if it is ok to do this from the UK and get it back quickly; Where do i send it to? Whats the address?
Thanks!
Steven.
Study the hard while it's easy.

I live now in Netherlands where there is no Kodak representative anymore. So there´s no choice anyway, you have to send it to Switzerland.
The last project is two years ago and was made in Munich. There I experienced *longer* turnaround times when sending directly to Switzerland (1,5 to 2 weeks). I assumed it was because of customs processes. So I was really surprised now with the one week process.
I doubt that customs regulations are different for Netherlands and Germany, but who knows. Did anything else change in the course of the last two years?

Yeah, I usually send it via the UK lab too, and it seems pretty fast that way, but next time I think I will send direct to Switzerland + see if it's any quicker. It certainly comes back direct from there, so I'm sure it will speed up the process somewhat.
how about early flight london geneva...train geneva to lausanne..
taxi lausanne to renens..drop off film..pay extra charges..
little tour of the lab..a bit of shopping in lausanne, collect film at 3,30.
london telecine 8.30 pm.. a curry and a beer as we were grading or polishing the turd as i like to call it.
did it last year on a job and got paid for it..
sometimes life is ok..
My latest, three carts posted in early January via the Wimbledon (London) address returned 12 days later. That's the quickest since the late 80's for me...also hade the "priority" blue stickers on them for the first time. They've have had green customs labels for a year or more...which is cool as the postman can see they are "amateur 8mm" films
I've always sent my film to Switzerland from Canada. Takes exactly two weeks with regular mail. Which I think is not bad. But, why do they have to write "amateur 8mm" on that green label? It always bugs me. I guess it's somewhat true. But not everyone using 8mm film is an amateur. They should write something like "8mm Motion Picture Film". That would be little more politically correct and a more gratifying.
As far as I know, the reason the mailer says amateur film is so that it does not attract any duty. If it were "professional" it would be of higher value and so you would have to pay an import duty on it. Also, it means the post office don't have to give you any compensation for losing your film either. Come to think of fit, that's probably the main reason!
I've had mixed results from posting direct to the Swiss lab. I had a film lately that was posted to the UK Kodak address much faster than any of those sent direct. That said, one of the two films posted took a whole week longer!!!

Actually, they watch each film. If it's any good, the label says "professional 8mm". I've even had some come back that said "kick-ASS 8mm"!
PS BTW, Dre, I'm a fan of your comic and site now!
