One hour processing at the local film processing shop up on main street in our little rural town. And if they did 16mm and S-8, that'd be great too.Anonymous wrote:double super8, what will it take for YOU to convert?

Of course I understand what you mean Francis, but if you put your question that way then I don't think think anyone has to switch over. Yes, double super 8 has great cameras and is 16 mm wide, but at the end of the day we are left with super8, lot's of it ... so it's important we understand we are all in the same boat here.
A more precise question would be to ask people what would it take for them to TRY DS8 and experience it themselves. My case was a fortunate coincidence , some people in the DS8 Forum are getting all excited once again and getting ready to pick up their DS8 cameras, we even have some users that are completely new to film shooting. I personally think it's a matter of emotion and excitement. If there is passion, curiosity and an open mind, you can be ready to try different perspectives. Everything else is not as important as is the desire. Hell, there is still a community shooting 9.5mm with their Pathe babies. Cameras, a format, film stock, all of that is very important, but at the end is the people who makes things happen.

I wish.jukkasil wrote:This is real, I just won two Quarz DS8-3 cameras at ebay.de prices 1 euro and 3 euro.

Unfortunately, a lot of eBay.de sellers don't ship to North America. And those that do often ask for payment by bank transfer -- It costs $35 to wire funds from my Canadian bank.
Olex wanted $100US plus $25US shipping plus a bank processing fee for the little Quartz DS8 camera with the fixed lenses from Ukraine! That's a hell of a lot of money for me to spend on a new filming toy.
Anyone who can help me get a Quartz at a more reasonable price will earn my thanks.

No way.
If I am to drag on a 16mm cam I want to shoot 16mm as well.
To bad Kodak is not capable of redesigning the suspension system for the S8 cart PP which would make it as stable as any other film format.
I am 99.99% sure that this is where the problem sticks and I would certainly be able to redesign it in one (1) day.

Kodachrome 40. As it stands now the only color film available in DS8 is K-25. This means you cannot shoot color with tungsten. If you put an 80 filter on your camera the K-25 effectively becomes K-6. Yeah. Right.
And I want reversal film, not negative. I want to project the camera original.
And some sort of indication that Kodak will continue to make the stuff available for a few more years.
As for you guys who have the Quarz, Schwind does not seem to carry DS8 in 25' spools. Are you respooling the 100' reels or what? If so, where are you getting the spools?

I want to revisit that C mount adapter which allows C mount lenses to be used on the H-8 Rex. Are you sure you have one? I discovered that one can use a 16mm C mount lens on the H-8 rex if one unscrews the lens slightly. This means that the adapter should be **recessed**. BUT since we are going from a c mount to a c mount - this means nothing short of modifiying the turret itself is needed to create such an adapter. One has to widen the turret C mount on the H-8 Rex then create such an adapter.francis wrote:as per usual im logged in but it doesnt print when i post.. it was me...
I wish you can publish the specs of the adapter you mentioned before to see how such a C mount extension can avoid the recessed issue.
I shoot Fomapan, I don't bother about color with DS8, I can always shoot color stock with my super 8 cameras, but not Foma just easy like with my Canon DS8 and Quarzs. And you can shoot color also with DS8 with Orwo's stocks and with Quarz DS8-cameras without 100' reel hassle.Actor wrote: As for you guys who have the Quarz, Schwind does not seem to carry DS8 in 25' spools. Hey Lunar,
What is the issue with the H8rx lenses? Are they not typical c mounts? I thought they just have a different back focus than normal c mount lenses. Do the H8rx lenses not work on other c mounts cameras (hope not, cause I just bought a switar 5.5mm c mount originally from an h8rx)? If not, it's kinda confusing that they call it a c mount.
