Clips from my finally finished super 8 documentary!
I have posted an mp4 clip of 3 small sections (in no particular order)from a 37 minute documentary shot with mostly k40 transferred at cinepost and some negative transferred at pro 8. These are 3 sections that i like and i think show all aspects and emotions of the film. This is an honest film that has been in the making for around 2 years now and im glad its finally done. The film shows the ups and downs of being on the road via a band I play in. The film is of our european tour in jan-feb 2003. This was a new way for me to work on a film in that it was more or less edited to the soundtrack that was completed first (kind of like doing animation) Anyways this will be coming out as an official release, a first pressing of 5000 on a DVD along with my bands new record. Included will be 2 hours of other stuff with a documentary of our SE ASIAN/AUSTRALIAN Tour as well. We went places no bands have ever been. Im going to ask the record label to have extra DVDs made and make them an official release in their own right. If this is something people would be interested in let me know. Alrighty, hope you enjoy it.

Oh man, I liked that
Nero 6 played it. It seems that every different type of movie file plays on a different thing. Glad to see this looked so fantastic. And full screen, too. Smooth and so colorfull. I just love S8. The transfers are great.
The story about the Prost chick was so wierd, too bad you didn't have your camera with you and a little flash light.
Yea, I want to see all of it.
Who cares about the music? I like the pictures. (I DO hope the music is good though)
Michael Carter
Quick Time 6 plays it, too, WITH the music, but NOT full screen.
Nothing else will do picture AND sound, though. Just the video.

Also to let everyone know this band will be playing many places in europe and the US in the next 4months. (Not a shameless plug) Who cares about the music , if anyone is interested in hanging out and talking about super 8 or playing table tennis (especially for the europeans) That would be awesome.

LOVED the richness, sharpness and steadiness of the footage!
Some questions for you:
1. What filmstock did you use? (Was it all K40?)
2. What camera did you use?
3. Did you use any filters?
4. Did you use the Framemaster pressure plate?
Do tell us your secrets, so I can shoot some beautiful footage too!

That was really cool, Andy. I remember the clips very well from some time back when you where still editing. It's well shot and tells some funny stories.STREDGE wrote:Also to let everyone know this band will be playing many places in europe and the US in the next 4months. Tell me if you come by Copenhagen on your tour.
michael
Hey Michael thanks for the comments. It does look like I will be in Copenhagen but Ill have to get back to you on the exact day
Christoph Im not sure if ill be in Berlin, we were last time so ill get back to you on that as well. German table tennis is so much better than USA!!!

In the clip that you saw it was all K40 although within the project there is some negative film used as well, I used a canon 814E but i now use a crystal synced nizo6080. No i did not use any filters and no i didnt use the pressure plate but i do own one. I did some color correction actually alot of color correction and boosting of colors to all of the footage that was transferred by cinepost. When shooting except for when there was no choice, I would try to shoot in the morning or evening and on overcast days. All of these conditions are mostly void of harsh light which k40 hates. So that is probably the main secret. Hope it helps.
