Firefox anyone?

Post by AngelDragon »

What are you using to visit this Forum, and why do you use it?

I have recently switched to Firefox. And I was using Safari, another excellent browser that complies with all the web standards. For those that know what I'm talking about, believe it or not I find Firefox better than Safari. It takes a little bit longer to start, but it's not a little ram hog as Safari. It has a WAY better bookmark's system, it's more stable and is developer friendly when needing advanced testing features...not to mention the already implemented RSS that Safari still promises.
To sync your bookmarks from Safari, explorer, Netscape, Opera to Firefox, use:
http://www.everydaysoftware.net/bookit/index.html
That's all you need to start a new life in Firefox, if you are an OSX citizen.

A question to windows users still using Internet explorer: have you actually tried an alternative before?

By the way, when did you start using Firefox, Jukka?

Firefox has versions for Linux, OSX and Windows, give it a try:

I use Firefox in win2k.
A developer friend told me I should for various reasons- more secure than IE etc.
I did and must say that I really like it. It is slow to start up on my 266Mhz PIII laptop, but its fine once its loaded and I like the look of it- nicely designed like a mac ;-)
Actually I thought that Safari might be a licensed version of it? It looks so similar.
I like the tabbed browsing- keeps the application bar(or whatever its called) easier to manage, and I understand its is complient with the standards unlike IE. Nice password management, nice clear options etc.
I think everyone should use it (or other alternatives) as otherwise we are gonna be stuck with MS mishmash for ever- support the little guys.
I did use Opera a while back and loved its speed improvement over IE but that was in win98- it used to crash all the time but was such a small, fast loading thing that it didn't matter.
I'm sure there are lots of other advantages too.
I'm hooked.

Actually, nicely designed ON a mac. Ben Goodger, the project leader, is a Mac user. That explains a lot of things.

I use Firefox because it's not the security flaw riddled Internet Explorer and it's the next generation of Netscape - so it's got a good pedigree -- and you can't beat tabbed browsing

Security: Rock solid argument.

Man, I've seen "In My Image " selling on eBay. I can't believe I found you here.

More secure than IE, I like the bookmarks, integrated "search function", always downloads to a predestined folder, faster than IE, if you type in a wrong webpage it doesen´t change to a weird search result, it is the way to go \:D/

Firefox is "nice", but still work in progress. Besides, no one really knows who´ s behind this "foundation". They take the money people donate, buy some full size ads in newspapers and claim to be a "non profit" foundation, or at least this is what most people think. Poeple even don´t know that they used to work with eBay and all eBay searches through this little search box in the upper right corner were recorded. They immediately removed it after this secret was revelaed. The browser is good, but lacks plenty of features for advancd browsing. If you want a real pro browser (comparable to Canon 1014 XL-S regarding the features;) try Opera.

hmm, not truth. Anyone can contact the responsibles of the Mozilla Foundation and their different project leaders. You seem to describe a chaotic movement, when in fact is very well organized. How else would they get things done?

The search box is still there with eBay, anyone can easily query their database, no need to work with them.
If you describe some kind of spyware, then that's a great story! I didn't know about that, can you please supply a reliable source or link for this information?

Nope, I don't log browsers, but I'll include it next time when I make a change to the config.

Btw. This thread is closed. It's not really related to filmmaking.
