Can you recommend a projector and viewer/editor?

Post by Leviathan »

Hi,

I want to purchase a really nice super 8mm projector, as well as a really good viewer (with or without editing features). So I was hoping you people could suggest some that you've had good experiences with.

For a projector or projectors (I may need to buy a few to get all the features I want) I would like the following features:

-film safety (duh)
-variable speed (and the slower it'll play the better, I'd like a range from about 1fps to 25fps)
-good lense (duh)
-reasonably bright bulb
-nice steady picture (yet another "duh")
-anything else that I haven't mentioned that you really like to have :D

Now for the viewer:

-handcrank film advance (as opposed to a motor)
-good sharpness
-bright screen
-anything else I've forgotten

Hope you can suggest something(s). Thanks a lot.

You can do a search here. This had been covered broadly in previous posts. Without a price range, it will be difficult to make a suggestion.

Hi,

Preferably something $150 or less.

For projector, get the Sankyo 2000H. Variable speed, excellent solid construction, steady picture. Looks like they are now selling at a premium in eBay but you still can get it at $150 with luck.

For viewer, get the Minette S-5. Real glass screen, metal construction, bright, safe to your film. Just did a quick search. Here's one sold for $13.
