Just did a test on a short sample movie that I posted here: ftp://ftp.filmshooting.com/upload/oliver.mov
It is converted from a 2.1 MEG .mov to a 192kb 100k streaming Sorenson compressed video.
The intention is to test if slow connection users can play it properly. The original frame rate is 15 fps.
Please send your comments on if it works OK or not.
Made on a MAC / Adobe Premiere and converted with Quicktime 5.02 to streaming video.

QT Test

It worked fine. About 30 seconds as it downloads, then plays as the rest follows. Quite watcheable, especially if one is sitting close to the screen. I am currently using an old 800 x 600 monitor after my newer one went kaput. Saving for an LCD set up to take up less space in the dining room.
8O I have been carrying out some experiments and the results are going onto my site under Video on the Web.

Picture sizes
8O It is best to stick with multiples of 16. 160 X 120 is the mallest used, but not the best.
The options are 128 x 96, 192 x 144, 265 x 192, 320 x 240, 384 x 288, 484 x 336, 512 x 384, 576 x 432, 640 x 480.
QuickTime is very good at producing odd size. As a compromise I like 192 x 144. One thing that is often forgotten is that 25 fps is not needed. Most movies on the net look fine at 12 fps, or even 8 fps. This means it is possible to use a larger movie at a lower speed. Another experiment coming up here!

Another low connection resources oliver test movie uploaded
Hello again Wahiba.
Here is more picture quality, more sound quality less motion and bigger picture area:
ftp://ftp.filmshooting.com/upload/OliverS100LM.mov
Does it work OK?
Oliver is popular everywhere these days, pocket picking or not. However most amateur versions are much kinder than the original stuff I think. Watched an old B&W English film version a while ago that seemed very tough compared to this one.
Settings are Quicktime 5.x: streaming 100 kbps - music - low motion
File size is 153k. Original size is 21.3 Mb at 320x240.

Worked Fine
Yes - it played well thanks. It is interesting that the small image size does not detract from a movie. I also reckon the 100 kbps is probably a good compromise.
